Inside Scop Event Reflection
This Inside Scoop event provides me a chance to meet more people like myself in the Applied Psychology major. We can exchange our effective study methods for the coming exams. Knowing I am not the only one who is nervous and stressed for those exams gave me a sense of relief. It is also great to familiar ourselves to the Inside Scoop mentors. And the free food was satisfying, it does encourage me more to attend the Inside Scoop events.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Gentleness, self-sacrifice, and generosity are the exclusive possession of no race or religion.” This quote genuinely describes how anyone has the capability of sacrificing for others, no matter if an individual looks different from someone else. Sacrifice does not discriminate. When friends or family sacrifice for each other it shows that the priorities for loved ones come before one's own selfish needs. It creates opportunities to help people when it is needed the most. In society, praise is commended when one sacrifices for another person's social, emotional, and physical well-being. In Khaled Hosseini's novel, The Kite Runner, it is evident that self-sacrifice is required to create close friendships. This novel…

The workshop opened my eyes and help me understand how the people of the Cree Nation are living in the reserves. The reserves lack the adequate services, have limited accessibility and employees have insufficient training. There are no birthing services in their community and the pregnant are forced to fly to Thompson alone without any family or close peers to support them. I learned that the people of the Cree Nation values the process of birthing and dying significantly and all of the community gets together to celebrate life. Moreover, most youths age out of the system as they are repeatedly admitted, and their cases are usually not followed through. The type of care they receive are temporary and is considered…

This week included much activity with meetings, rain and the storm that never happened. Monday began with a Right on Crime communications meeting. It was interesting to sit through and hear what all was going on throughout the RoC organization. Then I went back to my desk to try and finish out the TPPF communications project I had been working on since Thursday. After lunch, I was informed about another weekly meeting with RoC, the policy call was also informative and I learned about what some of our signatories are doing in their states and areas. Following that Call, I finished out the day by finishing the communications project. Tuesday started out ordinary and I was able to finally begin the reading for the Thinking Economically class. Then it was time…

Attending the student involvement fair was a great experience. On the surface, the fair’s main purpose was to provide an outlet for students to engage in on campus activities that may strike their interest; however, I found it to be much more powerful than that. This involvement fair was not only a way to showcase Penn State and its nearly 900 clubs, but also a way to draw from each student interests and talents that may have been unknown to them. After attending the fair and meeting a several different organizations, I know that I have become a part of something bigger, and will be able to have experiences and be provided opportunities like no other.…

This professional meeting relates to Dietetics because first of all the main topic was food insecurity. As future Registered Dietitians we are going to have to work with people who has food insecurity. It is important for us that we understand what this means and how we can help people. Also, something that I liked was that I was able to see this project were students helped and worked. It is very important for Dietetic students to start from the bottom and since the first day. It is good to get experience and knowledge from a lot of different places. The more experience we get, the more prepared we are going to be for our future professions and jobs.…

The three distinct ways the northern colonies differed from the southern during early years of the of the U.S development were views on slavery, foreign trading policies, and political views. The southern states believed it was their way or no way, opposed to any political views that they didn’t agree upon. The whisky rebellion era is another area that distinctly differentiates beliefs of the northern colonies from the southern. The southern colonies still believed in having slaves, whereas the northern colonies believed “all men are equal” becoming more diverse of the two regions. Although the northern states weren’t concerned with the loss of slavery, as the south was. The main concern for them was the foreign trading policy to advance…

In last week’s class I truly felt like the class had some of the best conversations we had ever had, at least in my opinion. I had a really great conversation with my small group about some of the previous readings and how we at times, felt awkward due to having far different opinions of the readings than our other classmates, especially when it came to the parenting books we had read, such as the one discussing how to come to terms with having an intersex child. I also really enjoyed how the clinical graduate students and the counseling graduate students helped explain why disorders such as gender dysphoria and gender identity even existed within the DSM. All in all, I felt like the whole class really came together and had a great conversation…
