Purpose
The purpose of this report is to propose a plan to renovate the cafeteria at DeVry University campus in Addison so it can be more appealing and inviting to current and new student.
Procedure
Over the past 4 weeks we have done extensive research electronically to obtain information about furniture, TV’s, computer, printers, vending and coffee machine. We have utilized different websites such as Walmart.com and Bedbath&beyond.com for furniture’s. To get new and updated computers and printers we have looked into e-bay.com. We also looked into Amazon.com to get TV’s for a reasonable price. Our team contacted Hometown venting machine to get prices on different types of vending machines and the cost of the installation and maintenance fee. We also did a survey using the DeVry students and asked them how to make the cafeteria area a more inviting place for them to spend more time in it.
Problem
The DeVry Addison campus has only one cafeteria for all the students who attend DeVry to spend their time between classed to take a break, socialize, eat lunch or do some quick assignment. One of the problems with the cafeteria right now is that it looks very bland and not inviting. As soon as you enter into the cafeteria you are welcomed by big orange garbage bin and all you can see is gray walls, gray carpet and gray chairs. Gray is a very unemotional color that brings you spirit down. Imagine a sunless winter day spend at the cafeteria. It will depress you even more.
Most of the students that we asked said that one of the main reasons why they go to the cafeteria is to grab something to eat. The food that is currently offered at Herman’s Hideaway Café is very generic and it does not have a lot of healthy value. Most students have a bad healthy eating habit and not a lot of time in their hand so it would be beneficial if the cafeteria offered more health foods. Fruits, veggies, low fat products or instead of a burger a veggie burger

As LUC students, we are very fortunate to have food readily available to us in the dining halls. The food options off campus around LUC are minimal, so it is ideal to have halls on campus that have different foods to choose from. These halls have many different problems surrounding the specific dining experience though, which affects current and prospective students, faculty, and staff. A recent article from the Phoenix reports that the hygiene of the dining hall employees has room for improvement. A student claimed, “he saw dining hall workers go out for a cigarette and come straight back to serving food” (Beckford 1). There have been reports of bugs in the salad bar and mold in the icemakers. Also, the dining halls have received lower levels on food inspections due to temperature problems that could potentially affect anyone who eats there. Although there were reports of roaches at the University of Chicago in 2012, which is worse than any reports at LUC, it is still very important that LUC works to improve the hygiene at their dining halls (Beckford 2).…

Many students push for an open campus lunch to enjoy with their friends. They would like to go eat at a fast food restaurant or even swing by home and say hello to mom or dad. But they have to stay at school and either not eat or eat the ever degrading school food. Starting open campus lunches gives many benefits such as an increase in student happiness, less money needing to be spent on food and electricity by the school, and even lunch running smooth with the decrease in student populous.…

In numerous movies and stories you've seen, have you ever heard any of the characters say the cafeteria food has a rich, savory, and an appetizing look? Probably not. Cafeteria food lacks good quality and taste, and is probably one of the reasons why countless students don't eat during lunch. Students always discuss what if they could change three things in their school's lunch menu. They would probably have chocolate ice-cream, fried chicken or cake every day for lunch if they were given that option. If I was given the option to change three things in my school's lunch menu, I would take out wheat pancakes, pizza and the re fried beans. The wheat pancakes have always lacked flavor and always have an unpleasant aftertaste, the cheese on the pizza is rancid, and the beans always have a dark, crusty layer on top. If I could replace wheat pancakes, pizza and re fried beans, I would replace it with crepes, fresh fruit…

Its been about half a year since the new school cafeteria “Kopitiam” in MDIS opened its stalls, and I seek to understand whether the change of the food provider from the previous coffee shop is a good thing or not. I have received various feedbacks about the food, prices and service about the Kopitiam and since I come to school everyday and eat at the Kopitiam everyday in school, I thought it would be very convenient and relevant to know more about the Kopitiam, and find out what works and what doesn’t in the F and B industry. This would greatly help if I were to become a manager in the industry in the future.…
