Jonathan's Home Volunteering Analysis
The most meaningful service activities that I have performed while at UTD would definitely be leading the volunteering team at Jonathan's Place, an emergency shelter for homeless kids. I had the honor to volunteer as a member of the Global Business Organization since August 2015, and took over the program in the Fall of 2016. During my visits at Jonathan's Place, I understood the value of education and love. The children that live at the shelter have gone through different types of domestic violence, and require a lot of attention and patience. Those small kids have thought me to appreciate my life in a way that I would have never been able to do by myself. I have been so move and change through these volunteering activities that I will continue

The most rewarding work experience that I have had was to work as a volunteer for the International office at Northern Virginia Community College. Personally, I considered volunteering responsible work because it requires time effort and commitment. Working as a volunteer with the International Office was meaningful to me because I was able to assist so many students in achieving their dream of obtaining an American college education. I was able to help the International Students and to give them a better understanding of the resources that NOVA offers to international students. Furthermore, my responsibility was to arrange student get-togethers and in so doing build a sense of community and cohesion. My purpose for volunteering was to assist international students, many of whom are away from home with very little support at a very young age, with making a smooth transition in to a new coulter. This is particularly important to me because I am a dual citizen of America and Pakistan and understand the difficulty of assimilating into a new culture.…

The results of my hard work and the positive impact it creates on the people around me is a reward in itself. One of the most memorable instances in which I contributed to the greater good was during the summer of my freshman year where I volunteered at West Pines Community Church. That summer, myself and about 50 other volunteers set out to make an impactful difference in the…

The last hours that I completed were at the Edwardsville library, and I liked to do this because I definitely felt that I was having an impact on someone's life. I fulfilled the corporal work of instructing the ignorant, by teaching and assisting the kids with crafts. I enjoyed helping the kids, because it made me feel that I was really helping, and made an impact on their experience, or even if it made their…

I am a church member and musician at Revival Tabernacle. By being a musician, I find myself working with the talents and ideas of others as we come together on one accord and produce a skilled sound. I am also currently a student at Jones County High School. Being a student, I am a service to other organizations at school by being an usher for Graduation and also the Chorus Department. My recent involvement in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and DECA has enriched my knowledge of the business sector and how we all come together as a society and produce great ideas. In these organizations, I was able to be a holiday helper at local Nursing Homes to bring cheer to the residents. From my participation in these organizations and activities, I learned that it is better to give than receive. I was able to gain experience with dealing with the public and also give people a sense of comfort and love.…

Yet, the various organizations at Austin College sparked my interest, and slowly but surely I began to get involved. Although I have been overwhelmed at times, I quickly learned that being involved in the Sherman community and Austin College’s organizations have become a vital part of my college experience. My experience in these short 7 months have taught me the value of service and being involved. When I performed service events in the past, it was to gain service hours and build up a résumé. Now I serve because helping others give me a genuinely great feeling. My involvement in organizations has helped me to develop character traits such as, integrity, leadership, and service, and other traits that simply cannot be taught in a classroom. I know that these everlasting seeds of integrity, service, and leadership will continue to flourish well beyond college.…

In tenth grade, I went on a missions trip with my church to Mink Lake, which is a camp by the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota. During the missions trip, we prepared a camp for the summer. Some of my personal jobs were to help clean out two sheds and reorganize them, haul logs, and trim trees all over the camp. The trip benefitted myself and the other people on the missions trip because we were able to help people have a fun experience at camp over the summer, and we also helped the people running the camp to not have to work so hard to prepare the camp for the summer campers. Another reason it was a good experience for all of us workers is because we did not have our cell phones, so we were able to form new relationships with each other since we were not constantly distracted by our…

This past summer I was part of the leadership staff at Camp Howard. I was a unit director for the 1st and 2nd graders who came to camp for the day. This unit consisted of 30 campers and 4 counselors whom I was in charge of. I am also the treasurer of the College of Democrats and I volunteer with multiple organizations. For example, I help students and community members register to vote and I work closely with the office of Lane County of Democrats. I volunteer with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars by holding toy drives for homeless shelters. Another service experience I've had is volunteering with the Sparrow Club in my hometown. Last year, I went to Pinetree Preschool, where there is nothing but young children. That was an experience I enjoyed and found so valuable and opened my eyes to the potential and possibilities of children. This year, I chose the complete opposite of Pinetree and I volunteered at Primrose, a retirement home for people who suffer from alzheimer's or dementia. At Primrose, I saw a completely different side of human life. That may seem like an exaggeration but I tend not to spend much time with people much, much older than me, as they were at Primrose. I learned an incredible amount of patience and understanding and just life in general during my time volunteering at Primrose, that I could not had received anywhere else.…

I am spending my time volunteering at St. Marks United Methodist Church (St. Marks UMC). This church is an open community, working to create a comfortable atmosphere for anyone and everyone in and around the area. I work specifically with the youth of the church and I reach out to students who are my age or younger than me. I have been volunteering at St. Marks for almost four years, assisting in many different groups and organizations sponsored by our church. I volunteer at this church because it has given me an opportunity to be myself, explore talents, and make strong connections, and I want to help continue this effort and reach out to kids who are struggling with a lot of the same difficulties I faced. I believe that volunteering here is a great experience for someone studying psychology because you meet and get to know many kids who are facing various issues in their lives.…

One of my most meaningful service opportunities was volunteering in the Utah Special Olympics last June. I spent the morning and early afternoon managing the Track and Field events of the Summer Games with friends and leaders from my church. This experience gave me a welcome change of perspective and an opportunity to focus on something greater than myself. On this day, I had the privilege of spending time with some of the kindest people I have ever met.…
