Leading by example should be done through actions and not only words. For example, George Washington during Valley Forge stayed with his troops during one of the harshest winters in 1777 with very limited food, shelter and clothing. He could have stayed in a better part of the camp, but he chose to deal with the same problems his men did. This was said to boost moral and earn him a great deal of respect from those around him. One of the first sacrifices the reader sees her make is when she was placed in the Hunger Games instead of her sister. Only those who are brave are the ones being seen making sacrifices like this. The last example of a leader who makes sacrifices would be Harriet Tubman who risked her life over 13 times by freeing slaves and taking them through the well known “Underground Railroad”.
