The companies I used for my observations are KFC and Boston Market. Both restaurants specialize in chicken meals but the two companies take very different approaches to gain the competitive advantage over the competition. KFC is most known for its fried chicken original and spicy Dark or light meat. Boston market is known for its Rotisserie style chicken original and spicy light or dark meat. They’re both easy on the wallet and have menu options for individual meals and family meals. The two companies are products are very similar in pricing. The two fast food restaurants are similar when it comes to customer service and store conditions, you will find that both companies place customer service in high regards, But the two companies show different store lay out styles. Boston Market lay out is very simple and seems and more for adults While KFC uses more colors and logos for their store lay outs. Boston market products seem to be more home style and health conscience meals. KFC Products are focused on convenience and are less health conscience because most of their products are fried, but in recent times KFC has added new menu items that are not fried but grilled and are also healthier options than what was offered in the past. For my decision I pick Boston Market for having the advantage because of its simple store lay out and its health conscience menu items and better drink selection. For me it’s not what products company sells but how the company sells its…

Consumer segments play a vital and sometimes surprising role in marketing. Consider the wine industry. The image that likely comes to mind is of an older crowd composed mostly of Baby Boomers. While this image isn’t completely wrong, the demographics of wine consumption have changed dramatically in the last decade. According to the Wine Market Council, under-35 consumers have increased by almost 40% over the last year alone. This means more and more of the consumers who are buying and drinking wine are Millennials—a target segment almost as large as the Boomers and one marketers are already eager to reach. Demographics are statistical characteristics[vague] of a population. These types of data are used widely in public opinion polling and marketing. Commonly examined demographics include gender, age, ethnicity, knowledge of languages, disabilities, mobility, home ownership, employment status, and even location. Demographic trends describe the historical changes in demographics in a population over time (for example, the average age of a population may increase or decrease over time). Both distributions and trends of values within a demographic variable are of interest. Demographics are very essential about the population of a region and the culture of the people there.…

To know what the United States will be like politically, culturally, and socially in 25 years from now is very hard to predict. The future of marketing, however, is not, since the demographics of the future population are already known. Demographic trends based on population projections will shape the world in the future. This deals with people’s statistics, such as age, race, location, and ethnicity. Many companies are preparing for tomorrow by setting up marketing strategies to market to future populations. On the other hand, there are many companies and corporations that are not looking into the future. Corporations that aren’t expecting a definite change in market segments will go out of business. Three growing market segments will be discussed. Corporations must adjust their marketing strategies to attract these segments in order to become successful.…
