Since the opening of the first location, Ms. Kudler has opened two more locations in the San Diego area; Del Mar in 2000 and Encinitas in 2003. As a growing business, Kudler’s needs are constantly changing, especially in terms of the company’s information technology and information systems. Based on the current technological opportunities, suggestions will be made to further improve these systems, and evaluate any threats that may affect these systems.
New Systems Proposal As a retail company, Kudler Fine Foods needs to run as smoothly and as efficiently as possible. Kathy Kudler budgeted over $75,000 for an independent consulting firm, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, to bring her up to date and ensure that her internet site will operate smoothly. PriceWaterhouseCooopers selected a small program that they have had good experience with for these this types of business and installed CounterPoint by Radiant System to replace the existing POS system. CounterPoint provides an Point-of-Sale module, or POS module, to automate all retails sales made, in detail. This system automatically reports this data to the accounting modules, as well as manages all credit/debit card transactions made in the stores. This helps to eliminate data entry errors by limiting the amount of data requiring manual input by employees.

CounterPoint also addresses the accounting needs, by providing applications for the general ledger, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, asset management and accounting

Based on the memo for Kudler Fine Foods, a new point of sale system is being implemented into the company’s three retail locations. The organization of the memo is decent at best. The memo is not very detailed or clear on all the expectations from corporate. The sentence structure itself is also lacking clarity, making it hard to fully understand. “While the vendor has training materials and will train our trainer, we need to determine the best way to train the cashiers in the three stores, the management team in each store and the computer support specialists.” This sentence alone is very confusing, who is doing the training? Is there going to be a class at each location or all in one location? What type of training is being recommended by corporate, it seems they are leaving the training in the hands of each store.…
