We were hiding in the bathroom, but I got away. They’re still here. They’ve got a baby, too.” Levi also told Risa and Connor that he wasn’t going to tell, but he ended up telling and then the police were called, but Risa and Connor got away.

The decisions made in McCulloch v. Maryland recognized and explained to the United States the nation’s need for a strong central government. After fighting in the War of 1812, the United States of America experienced a significant amount of disarray and difficulty without a bank to supervise the country’s finances and to provide a reliable institution that the population could depend on amidst all the chaos. Alexander Hamilton’s idea of a national bank would serve the purpose of providing one common institution that could help the entire country through its difficult times, but first the federal government needed to exercise supreme power over the state governments in order to ever possibly complete that task. The father thinks back to Della’s funeral and seeing how sad Eric was crying against the doorway. Eric was seen as gentle and understanding to his father who was tumbling over his words. When the father brings up a childhood story about the mother, Eric is “wary” and “twitches” up, and tensions builds when Eric wants to know when it was said and the father “‘can’t remember’” (33, 37). The father desperately wants to remember Della by telling Eric a story of how she fell asleep as a child. When her name is mentioned, it is like ripping up a band-aid to Eric, and he gets annoyed with his father for bringing up a painful memory that he is trying to let go of. The fact that the father can’t be remember when Della told him the story adds to Eric’s annoyance when he lets out a yawn. In the next paragraph, the father expresses his fear of losing his memories of his wife which shows why he wants to continue to talk about her as Eric is trying to do the opposite and forget. When Eric remembered the story of the “spark,” it “surprised” his father because it was the first time that he had talked about something involving Della in “weeks” (43, 44). Eric brings up a story about when he was little and the family was watching a fireworks show; and a…

One word to describe Risa from the novel Unwind is thoughtful. In the novel Unwind, Risa uses her head in difficult situations, such as when she pretends to be "Didi" in order to get them food and clothing, and when she starts clapping in order to cause a distraction outside of the school. Risa knows how people will act in certain situations and uses that to get what she wants, like when she causes panic in the school by clapping, or when she knows that the woman will be annoyed by the Didi character and give her stuff to get her to go away. This shows that she is street smart and food at thinking logically through problems; because of this, Risa and Connor avoid getting caught or starving. Another example is when Risa decides not to receive…
