Manipulation is the act of adroitly controlling something or someone to one’s will. In Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, Valentine, the caring and youngest sibling, convinces Peter, the tyrannical and oldest sibling, to stop beating up Ender, their charismatic middle sibling. In addition, Peter influences Valentine to write with him on the nets to control the media and fulfill his desires of world domination. Valentine also makes sure Ender never goes home to Earth to protect him from their sadistic older brother who wants Ender for power. Peter wants Ender to protect Earth, control it, and conquer other worlds. However, Valentine knows this and wants Ender to never go back and leave with her. Valentine attempts to convince Ender and open his eyes to why Peter wants him, and how it will be torture for Ender if he returns to Earth. Valentine argues, “’Ender, Earth belongs to Peter. And if you don’t go with me now, he’ll have you there, and use you up until you wish you’d never been born. Now is the only chance you’ll get to get away.’ Ender said nothing” (Card 313). Valentine yearns for Ender’s freedom from Peter and his intentions. Valentine knew Ender well enough that she could infiltrate his mind and attempt to convince him to leave. Originally, Ender did not care whether he went or not back to his maleficent brother. Valentine, being the genius manipulator she is, exploited Ender, and planted the idea of escaping the pain that came with reuniting with Peter. Clearly, Peter and Valentine are polar opposites but also share common characteristics. They are both genius manipulators, and both want Ender for their own desires. They can both exploit and produce doubt where there is none. They can exploit each other and even entire worlds. However, what they wield these abilities for is their own choice. Peter uses it for world domination, and Valentine uses hers to keep Ender alive

This is why I believe that the book is better than the movie. The book which has a lot of detail in it and more story. While the movie lacks detail in the story and shorts it from the book version. The book would not just stay with Ender's life, but would update us on what is going on with Valentine, Peter, and the rest of his family's life during the story which expands the story. While the movie only shows Enders life. So now I want to ask you, which do you think is better, the movie or the book? Think about…
