Marching Band Meeting Reflection

I became a leader in my senior year of marching band and worked with another person to lead the clarinet section. I began by having to collect everyone's information to be able to contact them and make sure that we had an accurate headcount for the writing of the show. The numbers fluctuated and I had to keep tabs on who was and was not there. After that, I had organized a sectional to learn and clean the new dance most of us learned. I had to teach others because they were not at the rehearsal when the rest of us had learned it. We improved the quality of the dance from that one sectional and continued onward with the season. When the school year started I had to work harder to make sure the section was improving. The major problem was there
was no wind instructor that had experience with the clarinet. At that point, I started to help the others by giving individual feedback rather than having us listen to the general comments of varied dynamics and blending with each other's sound. The section improved because I had given specific information and shortcuts for their parts. This has made me into a person who can communicate with a wider audience and motivated me to make this year my best one out of the four years of marching band.
