Most Outstanding Service Event The most outstanding service event I have participated in is The Backyard Talent Show for St. Jude. The Backyard Talent Show for St. Jude is the best service project I participated in because it helps others. The Talent Show was started nine years ago by my sister, cousins, and I. It is a lot of hard work, but is worth it in the end because it helps others. All the proceeds of the show go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Throughout the years we have gotten to know St. Jude families. By getting to know these families we have gotten to experience first hand whom the money we raise benefits, and it has been a very humbling experience. The Talent Show is a great event because it is a community
effort. The Show takes place in Morton, Illinois. Every year fifty to seventy kids participate, and on the night of the show hundreds of people show up. Overall, the community has made the event possible. Without the support from people in surrounding areas, the event would not be possible.
The fundraiser for St. Jude is my favorite event because it has raised a lot of money. Over the past nine years the Talent Show has raised over $130,000 for St. Jude. The first show only raised $600 dollars. The first year, we were very proud of our accomplishments, and we never could have imagined raising as much money as we have. St. Jude is very important to us, and every year we strive to raise more money to help the kids.
