Outbreak In the movie “Outbreak” a deadly airborne virus spreads through an infected African monkey that is smuggled into California and beings to infect the civilization at a rapid rate. One of the most important things to know about this virus is that it is airborne which means that it is caused by pathogens and transmitted through the air making it very easy to spread. The virus is named Motaba, and is known for its severe symptoms such as high fever and internal bleeding that result in a 100% mortality rate. The Motaba virus first affected a small remote village in Africa and the panic prompted by this unknown disease gained the attention of doctors in the United States after the disease infects several people in the state of California.
Operation Clean Sweep was a plan that intended for the military to bomb Cedar Creek in order to conceal the viruses’ existence, but this plan actually destroys the communities that so many people rely on and identify with in order to survive during times of disaster. Wiping out communities is the last thing that the state should do to contain and conceal the disease; instead the state of California plans on strengthening the already established communities by allowing family members of those who are infected to be by their sides. We would need extra hazmat suits for family members in order to ensure that they do not catch the deadly airborne virus through interacting with their loved one. The overall objective of this disaster plan is to create treatment communities that are formed through the increased use of medical tents where patients from the same community are able to rely on one another following the moral principles of Ubuntu.
