My Favorite Japanese Restaurant
I was driving down the road and I was feeling very hungry. So hungry, I could hardly think straight. All I wanted to do was gobble down lots of Japanese food. I could taste the Kung Pow Chicken and smell the steaming rice as I drove my truck. To my delight, I spotted my favorite Japanese restaurant and it was calling my name. Unable to resist, I parked in the parking lot and got out of my truck faster than I ever had before. The building was very old and badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. There were also several roof tiles missing. Not exactly a five star restaurant. The large sign hanging in the front window was slightly tilted to the left because some broken ceiling tiles were coming out of place. It was hard to miss the brightly lit neon blinking sign that read, “Sunami”. From the front windows, I could see the tables inside and it did not appear to be very crowded. At the entrance of the restaurant, there was bronze statute of a pudgy monk sitting crossed legged with his large belly bulging out and a huge smile on his face. As I stepped inside, my ears filled with the sound of booming noises that came from the customers. It was obvious from the sound of laughter and chatter that everyone was having a good time. I took a seat at my usual booth, the one with the tear in the old red fake leather. I was such a frequent customer that I could order without looking at the menu, “#13 Kung Pow Chicken”. Moments later, I was approached by a waitress who had the sweetest sounding voice I had ever heard. After I placed my order, I sat in the booth waiting for my food, enjoying the sights and sounds. I took a sip of water, with a slice of lemon neatly stabbed on the rim, then took a deep breath and the most wonderful yet familiar aroma filled my nostrils. I could not place it but it smelled a little like the Japanese dish I usually order, Kung Pow Chicken. I kept taking deep breaths and turning my head to see where this delicious aroma was

Dr. Wallace loves our restaurants because of our good customer service. On September 29, he chose to take his father and daughters to our Oliver Garden Restaurant at 6410 Grape Road in Mishawaka, Indiana because he knows our service is always up to the standards he expects. He was very disappointed that evening because of the difficulties he encountered at this restaurant. Although he does not usually complain, a week later and the bad experience…

The clattering of plates and the clicking of heels on a tile floor are the white noise of the restaurant. Kitchen partners rush to get the next salad ready, the next steak cooking. The expeditors keep the restaurant working smoothly, the source of communication between the front of the house and the kitchen. A business partner shouts “Corner!” as she rounds the bend between the kitchen and the hallway leading to the general area of the restaurant. Two servers see each other for the first time during their shift and exchange a quick “How are you?” without stopping long enough to hear the reply of their co-worker. A manager explains the goals of the evening to a group of distracted employees in the pass-through, watching a rush of customers enter through the double glass doors. The restaurant lifestyle is a unique discourse with success resulting from the quality of customer service and understanding the value of time-saving efficiency.…

As my family and I stepped d in, we were greeted and welcomed with loud beautiful music, which older families wouldn’t enjoy. I stood head to toe with the overwhelming menu of countless different meal choices. It was nicely dressed in a antique wrap of design around the edges. Each menu choice was separated in categories labeled with elegant and beautiful text, which made me love this place with more passion. I didn’t have one thought of my first choice of a meal for the night. To get saved from the black hole of the Riscky's menu was the generous waiter dressed in a formal manner. She walked up to our smooth wood grain finish table and greeted us with pure sincere gratitude knowing that we didn’t have one clue of what to order. She explained her favorite dish on the menu and I was absolutely certain It was soon to be my favorite as well.…

Stated is what I observed: • During the whole time that I was observing, no workers came up to me • I observed that out of all the sauces provided in the sauce bar, creamy garlic was the most popular • All sides were made before customers arrived and were arranged in the middle of the kitchen in metal tubs. This could be for easy access and faster serving time. • Why did customers prefer sitting down and eating at the restaurant rather than ordering to go? • Why did a majority of customers come in groups rather than alone? • I observed two interviews that occurred in the restaurant, one with a girl who seems young, maybe a teenager, and one with an older lady, maybe in the late…

The Cheesecake Factory, I once believed that the establishment would be a bakery that primarily sold cheesecakes, sweets and such. Although, I’ve never heard much about the restaurant, or what it actually was other than people are familiar with the establishment and only comment on the cheesecakes. Yet, I had not known that that was the place I was dining in, I only believed under presumption of its name that we were going to eat at some other random place when I walked through the doors of the restaurant. Now the reason I say random was the fact that this place was not like how I imagined the praiseworthy Cheesecake Factory to be at all. My expectations of this place was exactly how Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory felt and as colorful as Tim Burton’s remake of Alice in Wonderland was.…

Some restaurants, when the food is prepared right, are like heaven. In this case, heaven is Abe and Louie’s. With dim lighting and a neutral pallet, Abe and Louie’s is a very romantic and luxurious restaurant. Pictures frame the walls with stylish chandeliers filling the ceilings. At a busy time, which is holidays and most Saturday nights, this restaurant is pretty rambunctious, but not so noisy that voices around cannot be heard. While it is not that hectic, Abe and Louie’s is quite quiet and when going into the restaurant it gives off a peaceful sense. Abe and Louie’s has elegant and sophisticated look, and creates a very relaxed and welcoming vibe. The plush seats and smooth cream tablecloth makes it feel very more formal as a dinner begins. The top-notch, three-course meal from Abe and Louie’s is the New England clam chowder,…

Asian Legend provides very excellent meal and personal service compare to other restaurants in Chinatown. There were approximately 30 customers in the restaurant, however, only 4 waiters were in charge during the time we visited. The service we received was marvelous. The servers first started up by introducing the types of tea that will be served, including Jasmine, Oolong and Pu Er, and the tea will be served based on customer’s preference. Most importantly, the servers was very patient and clear on explaining the menu to customers that are not familiar with Chinese cuisine. The dish were served very quickly after the orders were completed. With four dishes we ordered, they only took fifteen minutes to serve all of them to the…

Inside, I saw American vending machines, Italian waiters, all plastic golden cutlery. I knew immediately this is not a real Chinese restaurant, but one that caters to other people. This is what others think when they talk about Chinese food, the mere shell of Chinese that is revealed to others. My daughter turned to me. “ Do you like it, Ma? I picked it out just for you.” she said proudly. I realized that this faux Chinese culture is exactly what my daughter has become. She wears her identity vainly, open for everyone to see. If only she could see herself from my view.…

The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. We looked at each other with such eagerness to have some of those explicit desserts in our mouths. There we were, with our food served and ready to attack. I knew that when I was done with this food there was no longer going to be any space for the dessert. Overall the food was amazing and the experience as well.…

The stiff black apron hung awkwardly on my hips as I casually tried to tie the strings around my waist. I had been at Gino’s Restaurant for only ten minutes when Maurizio, the manager, grabbed my arm abruptly and said, “Follow me to the dungeon.” Unsure of whether or not he was joking, I smiled eagerly at him, but his glare confirmed his intent. I wiped the smirk off my face and followed him through the kitchen, which was louder than Madison Square Garden during a Knicks/Pacers game. A tall woman with a thick Italian accent pushed me while barking, “Move it, kid, you’re blocking traffic.” I later learned she was a waitress, and waitresses did not associate with the low-level busboys. Maurizio brought me to a dangerously steep staircase that…

First, I noticed how far this place was from where I live. The restaurant was in Snellville. As we arrived the building was made of this type of stone brick. The roof was made of the red tile shingles you would usually find on the roofs of houses in California. To me when I first entered it smelled like freshly mopped floor. A group of hosts greeted us at the door with a big smile and a “Hola Senoritas!”…

At this site, the people come together each year to let go of one's hatred, anger and past transgressions. They do so by, making a container made with banana leaves or bread, placing some kind food dish in it, lighting a candle, sometimes placing a small coin and then setting it in to the river as to pay respects to the water spirits and Buddha. At this gathering, one can see lights floating on the waters, lantern lights in the sky; literally lights hanging from anywhere that is applicable. Seeing all of the beautiful lush vegetation in photos, the restaurant has strategically placed various tropical palm trees within to give that feel of freshness. As if one was indulging in fine cookery basking in the sunlight and fresh breeze on the Phi Phi Islands. Everything is set up to give the average person an authentic feel of Thailand to go with the authentic Thai formula. Brought by the kindest wait staff, even the menu itself includes both English and Thai or rather Siamese wordings. The people working are so pleasant and fluent in English, they would not be offended if one did try to order in their native tongue. Personally, I've never once tried to pronounce anything off of the menu, mainly I do not want to be disrespectful and I have no knowledge of how it should…
