As my family and I stepped d in, we were greeted and welcomed with loud beautiful music, which older families wouldn’t enjoy. I stood head to toe with the overwhelming menu of countless different meal choices. It was nicely dressed in a antique wrap of design around the edges. Each menu choice was separated in categories labeled with elegant and beautiful text, which made me love this place with more passion. The Cheesecake Factory, I once believed that the establishment would be a bakery that primarily sold cheesecakes, sweets and such. Although, I’ve never heard much about the restaurant, or what it actually was other than people are familiar with the establishment and only comment on the cheesecakes. With dim lighting and a neutral pallet, Abe and Louie’s is a very romantic and luxurious restaurant. Pictures frame the walls with stylish chandeliers filling the ceilings. At a busy time, which is holidays and most Saturday nights, this restaurant is pretty rambunctious, but not so noisy that voices around cannot be heard. Asian Legend provides very excellent meal and personal service compare to other restaurants in Chinatown. There were approximately 30 customers in the restaurant, however, only 4 waiters were in charge during the time we visited. The service we received was marvelous. The servers first started up by introducing the types of tea that will be served, including Jasmine, Oolong and Pu Er, and the tea will be served based on customer’s preference. Most importantly, the servers was very patient and clear on explaining the menu to customers that are not familiar with Chinese cuisine. Inside, I saw American vending machines, Italian waiters, all plastic golden cutlery. I knew immediately this is not a real Chinese restaurant, but one that caters to other people. This is what others think when they talk about Chinese food, the mere shell of Chinese that is revealed to others. My daughter turned to me. “ Do you like it, Ma? The best part of the day had arrived, dinner. We had a reservation at the pier in which we were going to eat dinner. We looked like a whole bunch of bees ready to attack. The food was there. Right in front of our noses. We could feel the presence of the warmth coming from the food. The smell was just making our mouths water and our tummies rumble. The stiff black apron hung awkwardly on my hips as I casually tried to tie the strings around my waist. First, I noticed how far this place was from where I live. The restaurant was in Snellville. As we arrived the building was made of this type of stone brick. At this site, the people come together each year to let go of one's hatred, anger and past transgressions. They do so by, making a container made with banana leaves or bread, placing some kind food dish in it, lighting a candle, sometimes placing a small coin and then setting it in to the river as to pay respects to the water spirits and Buddha. At this gathering, one can see lights floating on the waters, lantern lights in the sky; literally lights hanging from anywhere that is applicable. Seeing all of the beautiful lush vegetation in photos, the restaurant has strategically placed various tropical palm trees within to give that feel of freshness. As if one was indulging in fine cookery basking in the sunlight and fresh breeze on the Phi Phi Islands. Everything is set up to give the average person an authentic feel of Thailand to go with the authentic Thai formula. Brought by the kindest wait staff, even the menu itself includes both English and Thai or rather Siamese wordings.
