My Favorite Vacation

My Favorite Vacation My favorite vacation was when I and my family had our annual family reunion in Savannah, Georgia. It was a lot of fun! We were all so happy to see our family for the first time in a year. The reunion was held at a very large park with a playground, volleyball net, basketball court, and tennis court. This was the summer of 2011. I and my immediate family left our home in Gulfport, MS on a Friday morning and drove all day to finally arrive in Savannah. We met up with the rest of our family at the hotel. Once we were settled into the hotel we went to a family member home who lives on the outskirts of Savannah. We laughed, talked, and caught up. They next day is when all the fun started. We headed to the park. When we arrived I was very amazed on how huge it was. The park was full of activities for us to do and enjoy ourselves. Everyone instantly got involved in everything that was set up for us. All the men were helping barbeque on the grill while the women prepared all the other food. We all were so tired from all the fun but we still managed to get up and go to church. My uncle is a preacher at a church in Savannah. Everyone went to church before everyone parted ways to head back to their homes. I really enjoyed myself and my family’s company. It’s always nice when family’s come together and has fun. After church all of family packed up and left to go home. All the fun of my vacation came to an end and we returned home Sunday night.

Lying out in a cabana by the beach, overlooking the crystal clear, blue water and feeling the cool ocean breeze run through my hair. My imagination had taken over my mind, as my mother told my sisters and me that we were going to Cancun for our very first family vacation. I was thrilled to say the least; my joy had no boundaries as I expressed my excitement for this trip. I had never been on any vacation before so I was determined to make this one memorable. My only focus on this trip was to have an amazing time in Cancun. Never once did I expect to meet all the obstacles that came along with this trip: flight cancellations, long layovers, and a late arrival. However, good or bad, nothing was going to ruin this vacation for me and I was going to make this trip, one for the books.…

The best trip I have ever went on was when my family and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My aunt was getting married and my mom’s side of the family was invited to come. We got to go on this vacation last February. We left very early one morning and we went to the airport. It was very cold and the air was very dry. We got to the airport in Sioux Falls and we went through security and waited to get on the plane. Once we finally got on the plane I was very excited to get there. We had a connection in Minneapolis and we had a direct flight from Minneapolis all the way to Punta Cana. Once we finally got to Punta Cana, we were getting off the plane and I could feel the humid, warm air. We had to wait in a very long line to go through customs. After that, we got on a taxi that took us to our resort. The roads in the Dominican Republic are not much different from the roads in the U.S. They still had stop lights, billboards, and the same traffic rules. One big difference we saw on the way to the…

We went on a long ten day vacation to the lake with our normal group of friends over Labor Day. The Stars, Eichers, Massays, Culbersons and our family, the Tomlinsons, were together on a houseboat. We fished, swam, and took all day boat trips up the lake. It was an amazing time, and just one short week after we returned, would result with us all meeting in the emergency room. Josh's motorcycle accident has taught me that praying and thanking God will give you miracles, family support is vital in healing and we should never give up hope.…

Arriving safely in Florida felt amazing. My mom had told me my aunt and uncle would be waiting to pick me up and drive me to their house. They had a guest bedroom waiting to be my room for the whole summer. I said bye to my new friend Jaden and got off the plane. I made sure I had all of my luggage and that nothing has been removed. I walked to where my aunt and uncle said they would meet me. I was new to this airport so it was hard for me to find where anything was. I eventually ended up finding them of course, but I had to ask several people for…

I fell on the boat ramp laughing my tail off. Finally, we got our boats in the water and started packing them down with our supplies. I have never seen so much supplies for a one day trip. We had to make about five trips to get everyone down there and our supplies on the sandbar which is called Little Sugar Loaf. We had about 13 people on that sandbar we were staying that night. We started out by finding a spot and setting up our tents. It didn't take me that long to set up my tent. I mostly helped other set up their tents and sleeping bags and other supplies. There were about four kids that had to carry wood for the fireplace. While others were setting up the grill and lights for tonight. The sun was so hot I was about ready to get in the cool muddy water. I got my chores done for the tents and my buddies and I went swimming in the…
