Parents and Teen Decisions
Do you agree or disagree with following statement? Parent or other adult relatives should make important decisions for their older (15- to 18-year-old) teenage children. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Decisions

Many parents nowadays, started to make decisions for their teenage children. Others, still give the opportunity for the children to make decisions on their own and to be responsible among themselves. In my view, I prefer for children to make all important decisions on their own for the following reasons.

First, teenage children’s (15- to 18-years-old) usually had reached puberty and became mature enough both physically and mentally, as there brains had developed enough. Therefore, parents should give their children the opportunity to try how to make decisions on their own. This is because; when children’s goes for education in universities in different country’s than the country that his parents, there is a big possibility that the child will live alone and there might no one that could help him to make or to decide on his important decisions.

Second, children’s from fifteen to eighteen years old like to have some privacy in their lives and to live in the way and style that they like to live. Also, when parents make important decisions for their child then there is also a possibility that the child will not be convinced by his parent’s decisions. For instance, when a child needs to decide for which county to travel for education his parents might decide for him to go for Paris, but the child might want to go to Canada so that he wouldn’t miss his friends that he had in the school. As a result, the child might not work hard to achieve his parent’s aims, as he will not be motivated and convinced with them.

In conclusion, In order to give birth for developed generations in the future, parents should give at least their kids the chance to decide certain significant decisions on their own, to prevent any of the problems

Do teenagers today make the smartest decisions? Or do teenagers today have the opportunity to make many of their own decisions? In comparison to past decades, children in this current society are making many of their decisions primarily on the basis that our society is more guarded and protective. Children very seldom run around the neighborhood freely and have random playmates. Everything is organized and scheduled allowing little freedom for kids to make their own mistakes. This mentality consequently runs over into the parents dictating who their child dates. Once again this lack of decision making prevents teens from learning from their mistakes and taking the responsibility for their own lives. Therefore, teenagers today should be able to choose who they do and do not date without their parent's consent.…

I agree with Kahn, parents do have a certain magnitude of authority over the youth of society, but it will only have a limited effect. Just as the aged people of today eventually gained or were allowed their ability to make their own decisions and others, so must the younger generation be able to do. This opportunity was one never given to Romeo or Juliet they were left in a position of the second type of connection, where their only option was to go against the rules and concepts set before them.…

Parents should allow their children to grow up on themselves for them to be able to make difficult decisions, so they realize how it is out in the real world. In both the articles “‘Snowplow Parents’ may be trapping their children” and “Kids of Helicopter Parents Are Sputtering Out” show that students’ parents are way more involved in their lives than they should be. Students should be allowed to have more freedom to be able to have fun, but they should also know that having an education is important to become successful or at least be smart in an area of their interest. As students graduate high school they are only a step away from being left alone by their parents and having freedom. Parents should be there to listen to their child’s needs…

First, from personal point of view, if one makes important personal decisions himself/herself without consulting with other people, especially with his/her parents, it may bring a lot of disadvantages to his/her life later on. For example, if one student studying in a high school, for some reasons he need to find a part-time job to have some extra money and he gets it. With his extra money he can buy things he likes which his friends who still studying cannot such as mobile phone, Ipod or even cigarettes. One day, he might come up with an idea to drop out from school as he might feel comfortable with that small amount of money, happy with his job. At that time if he just decided himself without discussing with his parents about his idea to get their advice, it would be a big regret for him later on as after years he might still be a worker with low income while his friends as engineers or doctors have more prospective careers.…
