Entering my first year at Bergen Community College, I realized I was missing the essential knowledge of how to begin my journey towards my bachelor’s degree. I never had the time to get anything done that involved anything outside of school, and it bothered me a lot. For college students, time management is an important skill to learn and may help improve academic performance. The main point in college is to be prepared for any responsibilities that may come in managing time schedules. College is not anything like high school where the teacher will give extra time to complete assignments or come late to class. Students have obstacles to overcome in their everyday lives while going to college and having to get tasks done at the same time. …show more content…
This can create a productive mindset to put in order what important tasks must come first. Learning this skill can allow students to complete tasks more efficiently, leaving them with time to spare. Students must be motivated enough to be consistent in scheduling responsibilities. Also, knowing how to use self-management can affect how a student can use the time to their advantage. According to a recent research study “University students, time management skills, and academic life satisfaction levels in terms of age groups, gender departments, and classes showing there is a positive correlation…”. “Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the correlations between student’s time management skills, academic life satisfaction, and academic achievement levels…” (Mehmet Dalli 1) Figuring out what you may lack on timing priorities can increase efficiency in learning to schedule. Learning how to manage one’s priorities first is always important for a balanced life schedule. College should be taken seriously for students who are truly committed and want to put the hard work in. Not having enough time or rest can lead to depression and can cause havoc with the student’s emotions and feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Deep deprivation may also lead to feelings of sadness, lack of energy and many more symptoms that can affect how a student performs in school.
