A job that interests me and a job that I would like to pursue is a career as an anesthesiologist. To obtain this job, there are many years of education and many qualifications that are required. Firstly, I need to go through four years of undergraduate courses in college, with most of the courses pertaining to science and math to help begin the understanding anesthesiology. After four years of undergraduate studying, I need to take the MCAT and then then I must attend medical school for four years. After medical school, I must do a one year internship and go through three years of residency. I could opt to do another year of study in particular field of medicine related to anesthesiology after completing the four years of residency. This salary would provide me a comfortable amount of money to save for retirement, buying a car, and buying a home. Furthermore, this salary would allow me to have liquidity in case anything bad happens in my life at that particular time. However, although I would have a comfortable lifestyle, financially speaking, it is important that I look at the disadvantages of the lifestyle of an anesthesiologist. Firstly, there are long hours associated with this job because an anesthesiologist needs to sit through surgeries and make sure that everything runs smoothly on their end. I would have long hours during the week and it is possible that if I worked in a hospital with a trauma center I would need to come in on a weekend. However, I feel that this career would give me more benefits than disadvantages because I want to help people and I feel that is rewarding to have this career.
