Personal Narrative: My First Christmas At Locust Elementary School
The title
BRINNNNG, the school bell rang.
“Bye kids see you next.., ” the teacher didn’t have the chance to finish her sentence as 4-5 year olds screamed at the top of their lungs. It was the last day of school before winter vacation and the bell seemed to take such a long time to ring. Everyone's all packed up, dressed and charged, waiting in front of the door to race out of the class and onto the bus. And when the bell rang we rushed out the doors of Locust Elementary school (an elementary school in Abilene, Texas), so fast like we're chasing the ice cream truck on the hottest day of the year. I was excited for Christmas presents, the tree, food and more, because not only was it my first Christmas in America, but it would also be my first

“Yeah, he will don't worry about it” said France.
Well he’s never let my family down before so why start now still thinking about it as I was going going to bed on Christmas eve passing the staircase that was lit up with Christmas lights on the railing.
I had reached my room and as I laid I bed wide eyed staring at the ceiling I remember some of the memories from my past Christmas in Africa and how differently it was celebrated in different places. Christmas in Africa was just for children so my sister, and always went crazy with all the candy we devoured. I remembered being showered with new dresses, presents, decorating a banana tree as our Christmas, singing Christmas songs, not being able to blow balloons and losing the Balloon competition and going to church seromines.
Christmas morning is taking forever to get here I thought as I laid in bed. I just wanted to blink and Christmas day to come yell at me to go open my presents. I was so difficult to get my eyelids to shut like they were glued open. I was able to fall asleep once I turned on the radio that was on my bed stand and listen to some some Christmas

Reed’s house, because that’s where we were having Christmas and right when you walked into the house the smell of ham in the oven slapped you across the face “Mmmmm, that smells really good.” I said with a famished stomach. There was still some foods that need to be prepared so my mom, sister and I got to help out, I got to help make croissants. As more food cooked the hunger in my stomach got larger like a virus. Imagine steaming mashed potato, apple pie,hot stuffing, ham, foods that makes you so hungry like you have eaten for days. When all the food was ready and set on the light brown wooden table decorated with plain white plates, silverware and snowflake designed napkins just feel like I was dreaming all of it.Looking at all the food I was amazed at how much Americans ate during the holidays. We said our thanks and dove right into the food like wolves. Trying american Christmas food was outstanding I loved the ham, stuffing, crescents, mashed potatoes and cranberry juice mixed with ginger ale, mmmm. But eating some much made me feel like I weighted a ton.
The down side of the whole day was the dirty dishes when we were done eating the piled up like we just had all of Texas ate Christmas dinner with us.My family did stay to help the Reeds clean up and then we watched Frosty the Snowman. When mom, sister and I got home and just went to straight to bed it wasn’t that late but who knew eating could be so exhausting. The days after Christmas including

Although the settlers of the New England and Chesapeake region were both settled by people of English origin, by the 1700s, they had transformed into very different societies. This was because of a number of reasons. Between the settlers, the New Englanders moved for religious purposes, while Chesapeakes moved for want for material wealth. The people of New England also consisted of more families than the predominantly young male population of the Chesapeake. Their governing styles were also different, New England being more about fairness and equity while their southern neighbors were more concerned with gaining material wealth and not about helping the poorer of their communities.…

I went to St. Michael School from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, so when it came time to leave for high school, I was not excited for the change. St. Michael was especially small in regards to student population. We had just under three hundred students split between all nine grades. That left roughly twenty to thirty kids per class. I was extremely used too this small environment and not exactly looking forward to the terrors of high school towering over me nor the thought of being lost in the sea of students. Over the years I was extremely imbedded in my academics. I had straight A’s for my entire time at St. Michael. I received the academic achievement award at Eighth grade promotion for having the highest GPA in my class. Despite this, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up…

Everything was so enjoyable the Christmas morning. All the young adults were mingling, all the kids were playing video games, and all the older adults, or elders, were bragging about achievements that their kids have accomplished throughout that year. The tension began to overlay the dark hall as I stood on the stage. Spotlights bored into my composure, illuminating my anxiety to the shadowy faces in the crowd. My partners and I were eagerly waiting for the results: the ultimate critique of our work. For the past six months, we had been feverishly perfecting our business financial plan for the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) state conference. Through countless hours and late nights, we finally arrived on the daunting stage as a finalist.…

Over 81 percent of Americans celebrate Christmas. This illustrates how the majority of Americans, including myself, love Christmas. As a child, I always looked forward to the gifts, but as I matured, I learned that there is more to Christmas than gifts. The cheerful people, amazing baked goods, and Christmas songs makes the holiday of Christmas what I look forward to every year.…

Sideways and hanging in the air with only my seat belt holding me tight, blood was dripping from my nose and I had no idea what was going on around me. All I knew was that this Christmas, stuck in the middle of Utah, was going to change all those in the future for myself and my family. Sadly, great-grandma in St. George was not going to get a visit from me, my mom, Karen, Craig, Cameron, and Ross, my older brothers, and Jessica my older sister. My dad, Gary, was not on the trip with us because work became busy. The year 2004 brought a permanent change into the minds and physical lives of all those I hold dear.…

The end of middle school and the beginning of high school is when everyone is typically getting their braces off, right? Wrong. For me, sophomore year marked the beginning of my braces journey, which I am still currently on. This may not seem like the most challenging situation in the world but getting braces at this time was kind of rough. I was ridiculed, most likely without the intentions to be hurtful, but nonetheless it still effected my already fragile self esteem. I didn't talk as much, I stopped grinning goofily in photos, and I often found myself covering my mouth every time I laughed. Essentially I had reverted back into this shell. I don't know exactly when and what it was that made me realize that I shouldn't be ashamed of having…

What I had hoped would be the best Christmas turned out to be one the worst one yet. Less than a week before Christmas in 2007 my father died in a car accident. I hadn’t seen my dad in months because we lived in different cities and two weeks before Christmas break when I finally was going to go visit him I had received a letter in the mail from him. I opened the letter immediately and inside, he wrote about how excited he was to see me and spend time together over break but it was unbeknownst to me that I would actually never see him again.…
