Personal Narrative: Still Living In Colorado
Hey you decided to read some more? Cool maybe this is not as dull as I thought? Nah probably still is. Let’s see here I have lived in three different states for over a year. One of those states is Colorado; you know, back when it was a place known for skiing and its great mountains. The “Mile high state”. Now? It’s still known as the “mile high state”just for different reasons. I have also lived in Kansas, although I was pretty little when I had lived there. The last place I have lived (and am still living as I write this thing) is North Carolina. I first lived in Colby, Kansas and Aurora, Colorado back when I was really little. Really little as in my head did not even come up to my chest currently. My parents had split at the time, my Mother lived with her dad (my grandparent) and my Father …show more content…

My mother lived in many different houses over the course of being in Colorado, with my Step Father, Mike. I swapped between the two households for a while. I had some pets at each house. At the house with my Father I had a black and white Husky named Keetah and a Lab Cocker Spaniel mix named Kenai. With my Mother I had a white Husky named Cobalt, and a demonic cat named Kodee. (That cat was evil I swear) After years of living in Colorado we all moved to North Carolina. This entire move (If you can believe it) all started from my dart throw at a map. Me and my Father decided we wanted to move from Colorado and did not know where we wanted to go… Until we looked at the wall. On that wall was a dart board we had been playing on the night before. We both looked at each other and instantly knew what was going to happen. I grabbed the darts, and he grabbed the map and a piece of paper. We decided to stick to the Southeastern portion of the United States and grabbed that portion of the map to use. We took one dart to hold it up and the other five were for us to throw, then the darts were thrown. After the darts flew we took the piece of paper, put

Did you know I recently moved from Tennessee to Nebraska? When I moved to Nebraska, everyone told me how flat Nebraska was, how it was full of fields. In my mind I was reminded of Tennessee with its family owned farms that could stretch for several acres. I realized that though Tennessee and Nebraska are hundreds of miles away they are very similar.…

This was supposed to be where my dad was going to retire and where he said we were going to stay forever, this meant no more changing schools and no more starting over, I was ecstatic. My best friend in Virginia was a girl named Amanda who I referred to as Manda Panda. She had long, straight brown hair. Her body was built like a boy’s, her shoulders wide, her torso long. Our minds were identical, we could finish each others sentences, knew what each other was thinking without even speaking and very frequently would come home from shopping with our parents with the same items. We were your typical giggly, boy crazy girls. She was my favorite person in the world. When I moved to Virginia it was around the end of my fifth grade year, Amanda and I were extremely lucky to be in most of the same classes and we were inseparable in and out of school. My dad eventually retired after almost five years of us living in Virginia however, he decided that he wanted to move one more time. I was devastated. My parents promised me we wouldn’t move anymore, having to continually start over was rough for me. Being the new kid and the awkwardness of not knowing anyone, learning a new school and leaving behind your friends was supposed to be over. I became…

People know Vermont’s Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream and maple syrup better than they know Vermont itself. This was true for me as well: I had no idea where Vermont was before I actually stepped on this land three years ago. The town called Manchester was as rural as I could imagine, but it brought me a fresh living experience and inspired me to appreciate the beauty of nature.…

Thinking back on it now, Alaska was an important part of my life, having lived there for the majority of the time I’ve been alive. The small town of Eagle River was a great place to live, even if it gets very cold in the winter. Since I’ve lived there for so long, I learned how to make my way around from Point A to Point B without much hassle and figured out how easily friends can come if you try. Where I lived in a neighborhood that wasn’t too far away from a safeway, so I could walk there and do some errands for my folks, and maybe do some shopping for myself as well. There was a park just across the way, which is where I spent most of my days if I wasn’t being a lazy nerd at my computer. If the summer wasn’t rainy, it…

It all started when a few days before summer break began last year when I overheard my step-dad and uncle talking about a hiking trip in Colorado that we were going to take sometime in the month of early July. So I just let it be and was going to see and find out if I was going to go along with them. long story short, I got a really, really early Christmas present from my mom and step-dad. A hiking trip to the Rocky Mountains!…

When I was ten years old, my parents told me we were moving the California. I was absolutely thrilled. California was purely an abstract and conceptual mirage-type of place, too far away to know where it was, and too far away to really understand. The magical land of celebrities, skyscrapers and colossal burgers. A place where everything was possible, where dreams could actually become true, and where you had the ability to do what you wanted and be happy. This naive and unrealistic vision of California has affected my childhood so much that it is, in many aspects, still is part of me today. I discover new things everyday about this place with the same childish enthusiasm that I did the first day I arrived. I still gasp everytime I see the Hollywood sign, enjoy going to…

We finally moved to North Carolina and I was devastated. I felt like I had to leave behind all of the friends I had just started formulating deeper bonds with. I felt like I had to start over from scratch with making friends and I missed Khalif; and finding out that he contacted me the night before we moved and I missed his call, didn't make things any easier. I never told him I was moving when I found out. I figured since we wasn’t together anymore, why bother. He found out my last day of school because my best friend and I were crying, and another student went back and told him. He approached me before the day was over, and wanted to know why I didn’t tell him I was moving. After we talked, he gave me a hug. I didn’t expect him to try to contact me that night. I didn’t find out he had called until my family and I were well in NC and I checked the caller ID box.…

Four days ago I darted out from the Leedey community building. I went to the hammon flatlands, but the bad thing is that is it is very cloudy and is hard to see the black walkers. I have trained the horse to follow me and when a zombie is near I signal the horse to stay away while I kill the zombie. It was finally done, the long trip to Colorado Springs. We made it to the new house and my mom and my older sister were with me unpacking and fixing up the house. My mom needed some curtain rods and materials for something to be fixed in the house. Like usual, my sister wanted to follow her to Home Depot. I felt fine alone in the house so I told my mom that it was okay to leave me there. She was afraid because it was getting dark but she knew this would be a quick trip. She finally left and I started to walk around observing the house.…

I was adopted from foster care when I was 5. However, I have known my birth family and my mentally ill birth mother my entire life. Three times a year I travel from my home in the South Bronx to my birth family’s in Montgomery County, Maryland. The switch from the poorest congressional district in the country to one of the wealthiest, mixed with the transition between families, makes me lose my bearings. Going south, I lose my mother. Going north, I lose my grandmother, aunts, uncle and cousins. Yet the sense of loss I feel leaving one family behind is relieved by my time on the train. The journey both ways holds unparalleled meaning for me; I find peace.…
