It was a bright sunny Wednesday afternoon and I was walking towards my car. I got out of class early and was heading home to get myself ready to spend time with my bright and intelligent students. Sometimes when I get out of class my body feels overwhelmed and tired. Perhaps it feels this way because of all the things that are going on in my life like family, friendship, relationship, community service, and homework assignments. I feel like I am very busy that I often do not have time for myself. However when I arrived to El Jardin that quickly changes. The students that I work with on Wednesday fill my life with positive attitude and energy that I often forget about the worries and stress that I encounter during the day. I really love my Wednesday shift more than my Tuesday shift because I have a stronger connection and attachment towards the two girls that I work with. On Wednesday’s, I work with two bright and intelligent 6th grade girls named Arisa and Janet. Both of them have special qualities and a sweet kind heart.…
Comparing the Hillside Veterinary Clinic Marketing Plan to the standard marketing plan outline, you can easily see certain aspects of business marketing that HVC has overlooked. First, not keeping customer email addresses is a huge mistake. E-mail marketing is a very effective and affordable effort, especially if the growing housing market is catering to new families, younger people who practically live on their iPhones and Laptops. Not even having a website is mistake #2. There are simple web platforms that have pre-designed templates, and for pennies a day HVC could triple their web presence by having a website, and feeding the business listing to the major search engines, not just Yahoo.…
Joyce Carol Oakes’s short story, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” was written in 1966 and twenty years later was made into a movie entitled Smooth Talk, winner of the 1985 U.S. Film Festival for best dramatic picture. The writing by Oates is loosely based on a true story described as “the tale of Charles Schmid, a twenty-three-year-old who cruises teenage hangouts, picking up girls for rides in his gold convertible” (Johnson 160). I say “loosely based” since the author purposely omits facts that she has read in newspaper and magazine articles, facts that would lend humanness to the demonic nature of a man she has cleverly and ironically named Arnold Friend. The producer of Smooth Talk, as is often the case, also takes detours from the road of reality by further developing the characters of Connie’s mother, father and older sister, June. The reader/viewer might have a tendency to question then just what is true and what is not; it hardly matters, since both are a departure from the truth. The movie’s and the story’s description of young Connie are similar. Connie is described by the author as an attractive fifteen year old who “had a quick, nervous giggling habit of craning her neck to glance into mirrors” (Oates 148) and who wore clothing “that looked one way when she was home and another way when she was away from home” (Oates 149). The movie, starring blonde Laura Dern as Connie, depicts a teen who glances frequently in store-shop windows to view her image, a young person with “two things on her mind, boys and how she looks” (Smooth Talk cover).…
Clarissa Harlowe "Clara" Barton was a pioneer nurse who founded the American Red Cross. In addition to being a hospital nurse, she worked as a teacher, patent clerk, and humanitarian. At a time when relatively few women worked outside the home, Barton built a career helping others. She was never married, as she knew the restrictions of a married woman at the time, but had a relationship with John J. Elwell. During the end of the American Civil War, Barton worked at a hospital she made helping the people at the Andersonville prison camp where 13,000 people died.…

As a child, most dream of the day they finish school and apply for college. As time proceeds and one enters junior high and then high school, the feelings of college are thrilling for most students. The anticipation of walking across the stage, receiving a diploma, and applying to colleges to make a better future is such an exiting feeling. The majority of students set standards to achieve, goals to accomplish, and plan for nothing less than success. While not everyone needs a college degree to succeed, a higher education makes for an easier job hunt. Women are not as fortunate as most men when in search of a job without some sort of degree, which is a downfall. Especially if one does not have the mindset of striving for a higher education. Other than college being stictly attended for a higher education there are other benefits to improving skills, such as life lessons, expierencing careers, and learning new people. .…
For Bellmont High School our band always does concessions for football, basketball and wrestling season. In order for us who are in band to get our patches for our letterman jacket we must do eight concessions. Although, if we don't have eight concessions for each year done by the time we graduate the students, who don't have them don, can't graduate without paying a $100 fine. Well sometimes there are difficulties to get all eight in. I think that the people who don't have their eight in shouldn't have to pay that fine.…

In NASA, the Mars science lab rover is acknowledged, over a budget at 2.5 billion dollars. Although Obama’s Fiscal plan for 2013 would incise NASA’s funds from 587 million dollars to 360 million dollars, no quantity of money is worth Mars exploration. Mars is still merely a rocky surface in the midst of no indication of water or active geology. Space exploration is exceptionally expensive to the citizens of the United States; the government could unquestionably use this money to better the country where the people live. Exploration costs millions of dollars which is completely unnecessary to provide the NASA space program.…
Persuasive Essay : Many people would be happy and satisfied if they were in a relationship with money and fame. Doesn't that seem like the perfect life? Everyone begins to think that in life that's all that matters, and that's all they need, nothing could be better. Society dictates our morals, feelings, the way we do things and try's to tell us certain things we do are wrong and we need to do them the way they feel necessary. Our generations to come will have no clue what the meaning of a true, harmonious, happy life. They begin to think that not telling the truth is ok , and eventually get so use to it that even if they could hear the truth they wouldn't want to. It becomes part of their daily life. Clearly our society, or government has their own sneaky, conniving ways to try and brain wash everyone. Due to the problem that most people would rather have love, money, and fame, it's very rare to find some one who doesn't have any of that but is satisfied with only knowing the truth. People look up to celebrities, but they do not set good examples or try to be role models. In proposing a solution to the problem of adhering to the actions of celebrities, the analysis relates to Henry David Thoreau's belief in individuality as he talked about in his book Walden. Who is your hero? Usually the answer to this question, at least for many of us, involves a famous actor or singer, a celebrity. The celebrities of the world are the wealthiest, most beautiful and most stylish individuals to walk upon the planet. These icons, however, seem to have no moral dilemma whatsoever with corrupting the public. They are role models to the public, just as parents are role models to their children. Children mirror the actions of their parents, as does society the actions of celebrities. Suddenly, few people in the world are content because they do not live the same lifestyle as Madonna or Michael Jordan. Henry David Thoreau offers solutions in his work, Walden, to the constant societal…
One has to approach school as an added duty in one’s life. I must add an extra responsibility to my daily chores and activities. I am venturing into an activity I have not done any schooling for over 30 plus years now. School is something I must learn all over again. This changes our everyday routines to a point that we all must learn to work well with this new education. I am glad that in the past I had learned great tools to work with while working on these new responsibilities. Making it great while I was getting my A.S. degree in Florida Tech College out of Orlando, FL. Back then everything was paper and pencil or pen. Now I see an all new era of schooling and especially online. I force myself to get things done early, just like I do when I need to be somewhere for an appointment. I arrive much earlier than requested so I have time to sit and plan what will be going on at this appointment. I turn that into the same here with my online class. I don't like to be late for anything even dinner at home. Work on my college activities and required assignments take on the same aspect that I apply to my personal life. Both must be taken on with kid gloves. But as long as I keep in mind the goals created for school and stick to them I should have no trouble working out any obstacles that come my…
My freshmen year, I started right off with applying for a job with campus dining at the Marketplace. Working at the Marketplace gave me the experience of dealing with other people constantly. Whether I was serving food or washing plates, I was in constant communication with my supervisors. I worked at the Marketplace my entire freshmen year averaging around 20 hours a week. I was offered another job on campus, which is still my current job. I work over at Plant Operations (facilities). I am a student secretary. This job requires me to be in constant communication with everybody in my office. I answer phones, I put in work orders for campus, and I enter data, file, and much more. I have learned so much just by working in facilities just over a year and a half. I work 20 hours a week during the school year, and 40 hours a week during the summer as a full time employee. I work with such inspiring and motivating people. Through both of these jobs, I have gained life experience. I have made mistakes, but I have learned from them. Just like in any future job that I will hold, I will make mistakes but will try my best to correct…
Give up. Not as contradictory as it sounds, but it's you won’t get much done or learn much when your exhausted. So give up and take a break. And finally, take a college skills course if you need it. The question was asked, how can I keep up with all my responsibilities…
