“The lunch line is all they way out to the hallway,” my friend said in disbelief.
The lunchroom is not big enough for all of these kids and the lines are too long to wait in. At most high schools lunch is the best time of the day, but also the busiest. School lunches don’t look appetizing and are not the healthiest. Personally, I bring my lunch everyday just for those reasons, but what if we could leave school to eat lunch? Schools should let students leave to eat lunch for these reasons: healthier lunch options, gives them a break for the day, and it will teach them how to be responsible.
There are healthier lunch options other than school lunch. Lunches at our school don’t look good, don’t taste good, and …show more content…
A seven hour school day is a long day to be kept in an old building and not being able to leave. Leaving school property to eat lunch can give students the opportunity to take a “lunch break” from school, then shortly returning back to school. So, where is the extra money going? The extra money is going to the classrooms and the staff. Kevin Ivers, a superintendent states,''That enables us to put more money into the classrooms,” (Winnie Hu). This will make students think of school as a job and less of punishment. Having an off-campus lunch option will teach students how to be on time and to be responsible. Every student has three tries to be on time, similar to baseball...three strikes and YOU’RE OUT! If they fail to be on time then they will not be able to leave for lunch. Having this restriction, students will learn time management and will not want to lose this privilege.
I believe our school should implement this new policy for one semester. Then the school can evaluate all the pros and cons. I think that all the KV Kougars will be “Krazy” about off-campus
