I have always been a person who has found herself torn between the love of chemistry and biology. The manner by which all natural schemes of the human body work and even methods by which they could be manipulated to create something desirable, to where one can produce the answers to someone's problem is such a powerful and a blessed ability. Many individuals are completely unaware of the variety of job opportunities that a pharmacist has. I chose these topics because I have an interest in how biology can be used to help people outside the realm of mainstream medicine. In addition, these issues are not regularly exposed to the media in a positive light so I feel that not many people know about the potential benefits of these new technologies. For work experience, I completed a week in my local pharmacy in which I worked alongside the pharmacists and pharmacy assistants. In this week, I developed my computer and organisation skills and I feel this gives me relevant experience to excel in my course. This experience helped me gain a greater understanding of the inner workings of a pharmacy.…

It was the summer before my junior year of college, and as I returned to school that fall I was noticeably preoccupied with my mother’s cancer battle at home. Several times I considered putting my studies on hold and returning to help my mom full time, but I was reminded of something she often repeated when I was going through difficult times. “Don’t let life’s adversities lead you off your path. You have to stay the course.”It was difficult advice to follow, but I had come too far on my journey to stop at that point. If I continued on I would be the first male in my family to finish college, and I knew I had to, “stay the course.” In honor of my mom and grandmothers I resolved to pursue a career in the medical field, and as I learned about pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics in my Drug Synthesis and Design course during my senior year, I determined that that career would be in pharmacy.…

Admission to the intensive care unit is often brief but an important hospital experience. Shortly after spending three weeks in the hospital at my grandmother's bedside, I realized that although our situation was unfortunate, I was thrilled by the hospital environment. I was motivated by the fast-paced and cooperative teamwork of the health-care professionals and inspired by the care and compassion provided to my grandmother; I have longed to be able to give back the empathy we received during our hard time to others who may be going through a similar situation. My grandmother's palliative healthcare team became an inspiration to me. The team's caring and collaborative attitudes matched mine and I readily identified with them.…

The business model that Netflix employs is to offer an unlimited amount of monthly DVD rentals for a small monthly fee. Netflix uses UPS to ship the movies (up to three at a time) to customers. A key part of Netflix strategy is persuading customers into renting movies they had not previously heard of through a ‘You Might Also Like’ type feature. With different articles written daily on select movies, as well as offering suggestions based on past rentals. This allows them to obtain a continued stream of revenue on movies that might otherwise be overlooked at a brick and mortar store like Blockbuster.…
