Preschool Teacher Observation
I learned how the teachers set appropriate hands on activities and create environments for children to learn math, science and social study throughout their everyday life. It is also an integrated learning style, so all the inquiry subjects are connected. It is important to know that children are still preoperational stage according to Piaget. They use their five senses to learn things. It is not important if the child can count on hundred or not or they know how to write the numbers. I believe children hear, see and touch more about inquiry activities, their brain get stronger and they become smarter. I do counting with children during snack time all the time. If the animal crackers are their snack, I will tell them you can have four crackers …show more content…
I should write the teacher observation with Ms.G.W because it was very age appropriate math activity for preschool children. We measured the height of baby by using blocks. First we guess how many blocks we will use, and we let the baby lay down on the floor. We put two scotch papers on the floor, one is next to his head and the other one is next to his toe. Each child has the block and put the block in between one by one. We counted how many blocks we put in the between two scotch papers. We had 27 children that day and one child did not put the block. Some children knew how many blocks before we counted the blocks. Our guess was bigger. We also compared the baby’s height from october’s one. He was 24 on October, so he grew 3 blocks. It was very a successful activity. On the other hand, parents helping egg dying activity was not so many interaction between the children and the parents. Ms.Nora asked me after parents left how did I feel the activity. I said parents did all the work and children did less because the parents prepared all the colors from food like the old …show more content…
Ms. Nora suggested me if I do the activity like that, I should let the children make the color. I also learned from Ms. Nora, “Do not interview the pain.” method. Ryan sometimes acted negatively. He did not play with others at the playground and did not want to participate egg dying activity. Teacher told his parents, “Do not ask Ryan how was your school today? Owen did something to you? If you ask him negative things he will look for that. Just tell them your good things about the days. Giving him the example.” Hopefully, Ryan’s posture gets straight and he participates more. I think I will use that method to my son. I could not meet all of my goal last week because of I don’t have time to practice reading books at home. My goal for next week are the same to sing songs loud more and read books with children more

I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. Trying her best to calm her down, since the child was throwing around her body while the…

The first hour and a half I spent observing Mrs. Ballardo kindergarten classroom. The type of lesson that I am observing is Math Cooperative groups and the objective that is being worked on in this lesson is that the students can show that they know the numbers by counting dots on a die. When walking into the classroom I immediately felt like this was a class that promoted learning. It felt so welcoming, and the mood of the children were great they were all sitting on the rug and ready to learn. The classroom is arranged with the five tables. When you first walk into the classroom there are two…

I believe that each child, infant, toddler and older, are each unique and has the potential to leave their own mark on the world. My philosophy would be to provide a stimulating atmosphere in which infants and toddlers can grow and mature in many areas including emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually while in a safe environment. This environment will not only be safe, it will allow children’s curiosity to direct their learning, promote respect for things and people, and help the teacher guide the children.…

I set up an appointment with the Kids Club daycare at 9:45 am on November 4th to observe for an hour of toddler classroom who were between three and four years old. The principle gave me a warm greeting and took me to the class and introduced me to the teachers and the children. Everyone there made me feel welcomed. I chose a place where I can sit, observe and write my note as well as to be away from children's sight. In the classroom there were five boys, two girls, and two teachers Ms. Nadia and Ms. Emma. The classroom itself was large and spacious. The classroom is very appropriate for children this age and it has many interesting areas such as a blocks and art area, and children taped some of their previous work in the art area. The color of the class is bright and has interesting posters like calendars with the name of children’s birthdays. Also. There is a toys area that has toys suitable for both boys and girls like cars, animals, and doll. There is a reading area with a little amount of children’s books and stories in reachable…

The date of my observation was April 27th, 2010. It was about 9:30 in the morning when I began my study. I went to Grossmont College’s Child Development Center. The first thing I began looking for was if the child-teacher ratio was correct. The child ratio was 2 teachers to about every 8 children. The ratio was good. As I entered there was one large room that almost looked as if it could be two rooms they way it was set up. One half consisted of a large bookshelf with numerous books on it with a couch in the front of it. The other half of the room was almost like a little kitchen. It had a table with chairs around it with a sink and cabinets behind it. There were “age appropriate” toys as well as books all over the room. The areas were both clean and seemed to have no safety hazards. I then walked outside to find almost like a little wonderland for kids. It was so amazing. There was tons of stuff for children to explore and to expand their imaginations. There was a dirt path that went around the children’s whole play area, which was occupied by children riding their tricycles. Then to the right side of the play area there was a huge jungle gym and some play kitchen sets. I observed about 2 teachers that were outside and again 8 children. The teachers outside seemed very respectful towards the children. It was very equal from what I observed. The teachers were very interactive with the children and very helpful when needed. My first impression of “cultural diversity,” I would say that based on just children outside; there are a good mix of Caucasian, Mexican, African-American, and Asians. There seemed to be an equal amount of girls versus boys. The center was kind of hectic but was handled very well by all staff. After observing my surroundings for a minute or two one little girl caught my eye. She reminded me a lot of my two year old just based of her looks and her personality. She seemed to be very outgoing and very into what…

For my fourth observation of Jaelee, I was looking to see if she can follow through with one clear, simple direction. When I went to her class, she was outside playing. She played out in the playground for a while and then Ms. Reta asked the children to line up to go back inside. Ms. Reta had to ask Jaelee once and she got in line; she followed directions so well that Ms. Reta had her get a toy drum and had her hit the drum while screaming line up to the other children. Jaelee really enjoyed helping her teacher in getting the children lined up.…
