PROJECT WORK
VACATION ATTACTMENT ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE
I had my vacation with a construction firm called consar limited; it has its head office in Kumasi. I was taken to a site on the K.N.U.S.T. campus, on this site; the company is building nine storey GUSS hostel buildings. This is the first phase of the project of thirteen storey building project. This project will cover an estimated six years of construction. This first phase is going to take about four years for completion. Every storey has at least six floors and a maximum of nine floors. Each floor has a minimum of four rooms and a maximum of six rooms, each room has a back corny and a washroom.
This project commenced on the 1st of September 2012 and I had the chance to have my attachment with the company on the 27th May 2013 to 2nd August 2013. This is my time first attachment and during my time there, I had the chance to learn a whole lot of things like mason work ( block laying, concrete casting and plastering),carpentry works ( staircase making and floor panelling), steel bending (bending of rings and tightening).

MASON WORK
By the time I started my attachment all the form work for the first phase was already been done and so the Masons were getting started with the partition of the first building named block A. This block has each floor having four rooms and each having its wash room and a back corny. BLOCK LAYING
Get to know your pillar mark or instrument line which is horizontal and then the vertical line which should be on every pillar it indicates the room size, so this line is ben transferred to the ground so as not to make the mason go overboard. Mortar is been spread behind the line .Place your block on the mortar, check the top level and the sides of the block to see if it is straight,
