One reason why I would allow my son to play football is because it will build his character. “The game challenges and pushes us. It’s often uncomfortable. It requires us to be at our best” (Harbaugh, John). Football has players challenging themselves to see if they can handle it. Those that persevere, develop the “never give up” mentality and carry it with them throughout their life, allowing them to succeed in everything they set their minds to.…

However, on the other hand, some people think kids shouldn’t try out because they get too stressed out. I think kids are able to handle a lot of stress especially when they go through it when they are young so it prepares them for what is to come. According to bluetimes.com, it says, “If you can handle stress well, you will be able to be more accomplished and it will be more relaxed for you to complete your responsibilities. Many people I know have learned many life lessons while playing the sport of football. Vince Lombardi, the Green Bay Packers former coach, has a quote that no sports editorial can disagree with. I survive by this quote every single day of my life. The quote says “Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price that each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” - Vince Lombardi…

One major part of my life that had molded me and changed the way that I am is playing football. The reason that I believe that this has helped changed me in many positive ways is that it helped me to work harder and changed my perspective on many beliefs. Another reason that I feel as if football is so important to me is that it helped me bond with my teammates, which also helped changed how I am as a person today. Like many sports football begins to take over your life around the time that it begins, from the beginning of June until the middle of October or possibly longer, it is what almost all of you time and energy is pushed into. Putting so much time into football over the length of your career changes the person that you are and how you think. There are many downfalls that begin to appear with spending this much time with sports and that is another counter-argument that is used against letting children play sports like football. With all the time being spent on sport there is less time for kids to do homework or socialize with other children. If a child is determined enough they…
