Family matters and it is important to establish the ground work to building and maintaining a strong and nurturing environment. The Purpose of the Code of Ethics is to provide core beliefs and values for the family to build upon and for future members to use as an example. This code of ethics will help the family to know what is expected of them as acceptable behavior.
Guiding Principles
• Faith
Faith defined is confidence or trust in a person or thing. Faith needs to be the foundation of a family. Faith in God and faith in each other.
• Love
The love within a family should be unconditional; love between spouses, parents to children, and child to child. A family becomes dysfunctional where love is diminished and marriages …show more content…
end in divorce.
• Respect
Respect may seem difficult to be given if it is not first earned. A family should give respect until it is lost. Husband will respect his wife and children will respect their parents and their elders.
• Responsibility
Everyone must take responsibility for their actions and be held accountable.
• Integrity
Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. A family needs to have a good base founded on truth.
Core Values
• Commitment
Commitment is the implicit promise that the family is a team. It says, “We are in this together. Nothing is going to tear us apart.” Commitment is the cornerstone of any relationship. It is the foundation upon which all other emotions and actions build. If commitment is lacking, members of the relationship are unsure about their purpose and fate.
• Stability
Stability is the solid foundation of a household.
It’s the underlying rules, policies and behaviors that guarantee a steady and unwavering lifestyle for its participants. Stability doesn’t happen overnight. It is the ongoing and trustworthy actions of the adult leaders that lead to a feeling of security. Stability is developed when family members follow daily routines, such as holding a steady job, picking up your child at the designated time, helping children with their homework or preparing regular meals. A stable environment is important for the children. rate.
• Thanks
Appreciation is the recognition and value of each member’s contribution to the well-being of the family. Children gain a sense of appreciation when they are given chores and responsibilities that add to the welfare of the family. Functioning households recognize all the duties and their value to the family. Members are quick to say thank you to other people. When family members feel appreciated, they feel adored and competent. They understand they’re part of a larger unit that couldn’t survive without them.
• Conflict resolution
All households have disagreements. They’re unavoidable when two or more people live under the same roof. The success of the family depends on how well the they handle their differences. When disagreements are discussed respectfully and when workable solutions can be reached, family members feel satisfied, and the family thrives. If, on the other hand, problems erupt into angry rages or participants’ wishes are ignored, then members are apt to be frustrated. Their needs don’t get met. They don’t feel cherished or valued.
Training and Education
No one has all the answers. Parents can receive lessons, classes, and guidance from professionals and other parents. Running a family changes with every generation. It is the adult’s responsibility to educate the children in the family on the Code of Ethics. It must be defined and explained so that there is a mutual understanding. It is also the adults or parent’s responsibility to set a good example.

BUSINESS ETHICS: THE PROCESS BEHIND THE CODE OF ETHICS
The adults in the family have the personal stake in the ethical behavior of the Code of Ethics.
They are the ones who will set the example, educate, and discipline the children and be committed to each other and the code.
I never had a written code of ethics for my family. It was and has always been do as I say, obey the law, and do the right thing morally. When I put together this code I thought of what my family already does and what I would like them to do. I asked my daughter what was important to her. I thought about how my wife and I were raised and how we have discussed raising our children. I also considered the fact that my family is much different than my father’s family in that what was the norm then may be illegal now.
I believe that in order to implement the code I would have to get everyone that the code relates to together for a sit down. There we would discuss the code and come to an agreement. Then we would set milestones that could monitor the progress and success of the code until it became the norm. I would also make our Code of Ethics a living document. Meaning that we could change it, add to it or take away from it as situations change because they always
do.
A code of ethics is necessary because it allows individuals to know what is expected of them as acceptable behavior. It provides guidelines on making decisions that are in line with the goals of the organization. Regardless of the size of business, a code of ethics is a necessary tool for any business looking to succeed. The values and morals incorporated into a code of ethics should be well thought out to ensure that the desired results are achieved. A successful code of ethics will translate into a positive reputation for the organization, which increases business for a company.
BUSINESS ETHICS: THE PROCESS BEHIND THE CODE OF ETHICS
A code of ethics improves the business's reputation, and it holds the employees and management accountable. It is important to provide employees a guideline of what the company considers right and wrong. Without a code of ethics, there can be misunderstandings as to what is acceptable. If there are no standards in place, it can be very difficult to hold employees responsible for behavior that negatively impacts business. Every employee's decision can impact the business either positively or negatively. By implementing a code of ethics that reflects a company's views, many of the decisions that are made by employees will positively affect the business.
