➢ Characteristics:

• Liza Asnan

She is a good and loving child that aims to finish her studies and to have a school allowance through searching for tin cans, bottles, plastics or anything that can be sold at Junkshop. Through this, she is able to go to school. She is also a kind person for she never fights back to those people who tease her.

• Jiboy Ruiz

Like Liza Asnan, he also sells tin cans, plastics, and bottles for himself and for his family. He is also part of a poor family that triggers him to be a “batang kalakal”. He is a good buy even though he get wounded by doing this kind for work for he does not mind it as long as t is for his family. But despite their situation in life, he still gives respect to his family.

• Michael Yumul

Unfortunately, this kind of work is the cause of Yumul’s death. He is a good boy that only thinks about the sake of his family. His hardship and experience as a “batang kalakal” made his life get into trouble.

➢ The factors that contribute to their personality:

For Liza Asnan, Jiboy Ruiz, and Michael Yumul, they are heroes for they sacrifice their childhood life just to work hard for themselves and for their family at an early age. Through those experiences, their personalities have been moulded.

These factors are:

o Hardships

o Trials

o Experiences

Through these factors, Liza and Jiboy are able to continue their journey in life and those experiences made them more motivated and determined to strive hard for their future and for their family.

For Michael Yumul, he gave his family an honour for sacrificing himself just to get what his family needs. This made him a good example for the youth because of his situation. He became independent at an early age in a way that he worked for his family.
