Dogs and cats have been competing for the title of "man's best friend" for years. Some people will swear that dogs are the best because they are loyal, playful, and friendly. Others will vow that cats make the best pets because they are independent, easy to care for, and are great hunters. Yes, they are both adorable. Yes, they are both cuddly, but which one makes the best pet? This essay will persuade you to lean towards dogs in this debate.

But they cannot be trained the way dogs can, because cats are not as smart as dogs. Cats cannot do any of these things. In fact, one of the most famous dogs from history is Balto, a sled dog from Alaska who led a team through a blizzard in 1925 to bring life saving medicine from Anchorage to Nome (source Wikipedia). Cats, on the other hand, are solitary creatures, preferring their territory over people (source perfectpaws.com). My cat, although friendly, is very independent. She prefers being outside, often roaming and hunting all day long, only coming in to eat or sleep. Occasionally, she will play. My uncle has two dogs, and they are always ready to play. Dogs also come in many shapes and sizes, some are big and some are small. The varieties include Pug, Aussie, German Shepherd, New Foundland, Beagle, Poodle, and many more. With this much variety, there is a dog for everyone. Cats are one size fits
