Sarah Mclaachlan Analysis
By putting Sarah McLachlan’s reputation on the edge, the ethos of the commercial becomes really effective. Being a famous singer is one reason of her appearance in this commercial. She, however, is known for many of her humanitarian works, for example the star studded tsunami disaster relief telethon. She also has helped many women to overcome their hardships in their music careers. In this commercial, however, she represents herself as an effective advocate for the BCSPCA. On the other hand, the dog on her lap, whom she is petting represents that she has done her part and is urging the audience to get inspired by her. Her calming tone of voice and specific appealing words, which symbolize the pain that she feels for the abused animals, makes the viewer respect her and follow her footsteps. Combined with these lyrics, Sarah McLachlan uses the words “will you be an Angel?”. She is asking anyone who watches the commercial to be an angel and not just a good person. The word choice is really clear-cut because the word angel has

Sarah McLachlan uses the words, “There is an animal that needs you” which in fact is decent technique because she, apparently, is talking directly to whoever is watching the commercial. With not just saying it more simply that animals need help, she proves her stance and makes it more personal to gain the attention of individuals with probably better

Daniel Schafer, the author of Anna Madgigine Jai Kingsley: African princess, Florida Slave, Plantation Slaveowner, hopes to convince the reader that Anta Majigeen Ndiaye is an heir to the royal lineage by describing the state of Senegal before and during the time she was born up until her arrival in the United States. He stresses the political, economic, and social factors by stating that the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries of Senegal featured numerous wars and slave raids. Rivalries heightened as Kajoor became the most powerful of the four Wolof states. Internal religious wars broke out in Kajoor between 1790 and 1809. This quickly spread to the surrounding area as the tyeddo warriors heightened the hostility by attacking other Wolof…

Sheila Kromholz article “Campaign Cash and Corruption: Money in Politics, Post-Citizens United” describes the influence campaign contributions have on politicians. Kromholz begins the article by detailing the reasons why campaign donations are influential. Kromholz then follows that up by explaining the results that influence has had of the political system. This article was useful for my topic because it provides an explanation for why money has a large influence in politics. Kromholz explains how spending in political campaigns have been increasing over time, with the most of the spending done by PACs, making politicians more dependent on donations to win. The article also explains how the influence of money affects polity. Kromholz brings…

Kathy Dobie’s memoir was thought-provoking. When Kathy first had sex with Brian I knew that this was the start of some bad decisions. When she later went from Brian to Victor I knew she was trying to be a “saint.” When Kathy later found her “tribe” I knew from the start they would use her. When they raped her, she found herself analyzing all of her decisions. It gave her confirmation to change the way she was behaving but to keep her “saint” presence in life.…

Throughout the entire commercial Ford shows all these different scenarios where children, parents, and even cats are in situations they cannot get out of. By choosing those certain people and animals, it appealed to America’s emotions. As well as to those single parents locked out of their house or the little boy who wrecked his tricycle calling for his moms help. They use children and pets to their advantage, due to the fact that people will always find pets and children adorable and cute. Especially with humor added to it, as well as sympathy because it may seem painful and stressful.…

“Maddie” is a heart-warming commercial produced by Chevy Automotives in 2014. It takes us on a journey with the main characters, a girl and her golden retriever, Maddie. Unlike most stories, this tale begins at the end. With a soft, mournful piano ballad playing in the background, we observe a woman in her late twenties standing beside an older appearing golden retriever as she smiles sadly and pets him. They appear to be sharing a special moment as the dog lays calmly in the veterinarian’s. The scene abruptly changes to a sunny, bright day, where the woman, cuddling the dog on her couch, relaxes with a warm drink and then smoothly transitions to her walking him around the leaf covered park and enjoying time with the dog. Next, Maddie, the lively golden retriever, leaps out of the…

On average, individuals watch sixteen thousand commercials in a single year. One two-minute commercial that catches many viewers attention is the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals commercial starring Sarah McLachlan, a world-renowned musician, singer, and songwriter. I am writing about this BC SPCA commercial to show you the different strategies they use to reach their audience, if they effectively reached their audience, and who their audience is. I believe they do reach their audience because the commercial has raised roughly thirty million dollars for the organization since the advertisements started running in early 2007. Which made it the SPCA’s most successful fund-raising effort. Many of the approximately…

The commercial that makes you laugh is good, but the commercial that hits you right in the “feels” is the one that you remember. Everyone can easily recognize the sad music that plays during the animal cruelty commercial. The hurting, sad eyes of the puppies and kitties stare into your soul and scratch your heart. Every time you hear that song, you think of those poor animals struggling; however, the emotional connection you make with a commercial (or the brand itself) is not limited to sadness. It may simply remind you of an instance in your life. In its first commercial, Extra Gum plays the emotion card. “Origami” tell us a story without even saying a word. Extra Gum’s commercial about a dad, his daughter, and origami cranes successfully creates an emotional connection between the viewer and the brand; it grabs…
