School Uniform Should Not Be Abolished
I oppose the motion that ‘School Uniform Should Be Abolished’. Students are in schools for educational purposes and not to show off their outfits. Also school uniform protects the rights of the students, showing that everyone is equal. It also hence prevents students for committing crimes. This factor leads me to propose that school uniform should not be abolished.
By wearing their own prefer dress code, most students are able to be confidence in themselves because they would feel great in what they choose to wear. But however this brings along some harmful effects to their peers around them. For example, if a rich student gets to wear his own prefer clothing, he will tend to choose a branded one which would cause friends around him who are poorer to be envy of him. This will in turn cause low self-esteem to them. It will also serve as a distraction in class as students may often look at the clothing wear by their friends instead of the whiteboard where the teachers write and explain the lesson on. And affects the learning of the students and deter academic success. Thus I agree that school uniform should not be abolished
The wearing of own prefers dress code gives students the freedom to wear what they wish that make them feel unique and happy. However Singapore is a multi-ethnic country filled with people coming from different countries and has different beliefs. It is important for us to be sensitive to one another needs in order to maintain racial harmony. Hence the wearing of school uniform can deter racial riot and promote racial equality that is one of the most important aspect in Singapore. This is because when students are allowed to wear their choice of clothing, they may want to wear the clothing according to their races and religions. Students may unintentionally teased some other races and indirectly insult them. This causes unhappiness to arise from them as they may feel discriminated. That is the reason why I disagree that school uniform should be

None of the schools I have attended had a uniform requirement and many students dressed in ways I found inappropriate. The private school I attended had a strict dress code but public school teachers often overlook the violation of dress code. School uniforms bring a more formal look; giving the school a better reputation and creating a sense of belonging among the students. My style is very diverse and reveals my general interests, whether it be nerdy shirts, girly clothing or vintage outfits from the 40's. Personally, I have always been comfortable in my clothing whether I fit in with others or not. In fact, I always prefer to look different and I have more than enough clothing to express my unique style. I do, however, have friends that always feel under pressure to wear the right clothing and often borrow clothes from me. It is reasons such as these why all schools should require uniforms. School uniforms may be the prominent aspect of our society’s road to success in educating its…

Throughout the years, there has been much debate with schools across the country on whether or not students should be allowed to wear uniforms. Through past experience with this argument, it’s safe to say that wearing a uniform is not a bad thing at all. Why? For one, uniforms stop other students from being judged on how they look, two, they save families money and students will not pressure their parents into buying clothes some families can’t afford, and lastly uniforms increase safety and security. So I do strongly agree that students should be able to wear uniforms.…

Students wearing school uniform will be dressing the same whether they are from a rich or poor background. Therefore, the self esteem of a child will not be brought down amongst their peers, bringing a sense of equality between students. Coming from wealthy/standard/poor living would make a big difference when social cliques are made. Social cliques are often made by basing the student’s ethical or financial background. These lead to bullying and harassment which leads to suicide. Hence school uniforms reduce incidents of violence, bullying and harassment and by doing so it makes the students feel secure at school. Requiring students to conform to a dress code and uniforms is absurd and unnecessary. School uniforms and dress codes hinder a student's’ freedom of expression and promotes conformity over individuality. When a student has to conform to a dress code, they can’t wear clothes that they want to wear. Dress codes and uniforms tell you what type of clothing you can wear, what colors, and how long the clothing has to be. So, everyone looks the same and can’t wear what they want everyone to see them in for 5 days a week 7 hours a day.…

I am very highly in favor of our children to wear uniform in their school. Wearing uniform to school would help our children more responsible on taking priority of what they need to wear, when they go to school. When I started attending school from Kinder garden to Elementary School in the Philippines, we always have to wear a uniform. I love wearing uniform, it really makes me feel am really in school, if my uniform is not complete for me to wear for school, I would just stay home, because there’s time our school is very strict when it comes to wearing a proper uniform. I always make sure before I go to bed my uniform is always ready, nice and properly iron. When I start school here to U.S. I was looking forward of wearing uniform, I was very disappointed when I found out that we have to wear a regular clothes every day to go to school.…
