The tank tops worn by students at Upper Perkiomen High School should not completely eliminated without spoken reasoning. Listed as the seventh rule in the student handbook, it is stated, “Tank tops, tube tops, halter tops, muscle shirts, and garments with spaghetti straps are not permitted in school” (52). This rule states that students may not wear any top that does not cover their shoulders. My thought process, and many other students, believe this rule is absurd and has no true meaning. Students have never been clarified on why this rule is in place, although we are expected to follow it. Is it because the administrators think possible bra straps are provocative? Is it just plainly because they think shoulders are distracting? Students…
Students will be able to tell you on fact from the book, “what does it mean to be green?”…

Some people might think that seventh grade is easy like the other grades, but it's not. Seventh grade will affect your future. It affects your future weather you get good grades or bad grades. Your grades affect weather you'll get into a good or a bad high school.…
You have transversed into now becoming an 8th grader. I’d like to first begin with congratulating you on your success in passing the 7th grade, which is a big accomplishment. But, 8th grade is extremely different academically, and socially. Your mind practically changes over the first few months. In this essay, I will talk to you about how to act, what to expect, and tips-and-tricks on being an 8th grader at Central Junior High School.…
Seventh grade is a struggle for almost every student. It is a completely different atmosphere compared to what students have adapted to in their elementary years. My seventh-grade year started as a struggle, but after hard work and determination, it ended in success. I was a student at Bayou Academy and had been since kindergarten. I was always an honor roll student. It had never been a struggle for me to make good grades. Everything was about to change because of my seventh-grade English teacher, Mrs. Maria Johnson. Because of all of the journal writing in Mrs. Johnson's class, I am a better student today.…
What grade were you in? The teacher I choose to write about is a High School educator whose name is Mrs. Wright. I had her from my sophomore through my senior year. She was the resource teacher for these grades. I have test anxiety, have has it since I was a young child, and she could get me through without having a panic attack or having to go to the ladies room to puck. This woman was always there to support me while I work through the good and tough times in school no matter what it was. A kindhearted woman, that truly cared, no matter who you were, and what problem you may be facing. She always put a smile on your face and happiness in your heart. She always assisted me when I needed it or if I did not grasp something, she would make…
Sixth grade was a major transition. Eight classes, PE uniforms, more freedom - except recess - but who was I kidding, it was going to be great! I met so many new people, including this girl Rachel Carney. We became instant friends and started Confirmation at church together that fall. That’s when I met Maddie, Rachel’s twin sister. Despite my newfound friendships, I was sucked into petty middle…
Going through middle school in high school is something everyone has to go through, and since everyone will only go through it once, it becomes a very special time. It will probably be one of the most awkward and confusing part of most people’s life, from the dancing unit in gym class to asking a crush to the school dance. There is not anything to get out of it, but there are a few things that will make the six years not as bad and that’s by enjoying every second. The second seventh grade tration day is over gradion is a few months away, the only thing left to do is take in the time that’s left, while regretting this or that was not done. The best advice for a Prairie View kid, or any kid, going into middle and high school is to enjoy the six years by getting involved, showing spirit at what may seem like the pointless pep rallies, and most importantly is for each student to love what they do.…
Brave New World warns of the dangers of giving the state control over new and powerful technologies. One illustration of this theme is the rigid control of reproduction through technological and medical intervention, including the surgical removal of ovaries, the Bokanovsky Process, and hypnopaedic conditioning. Another is the creation of complicated entertainment machines that generate both harmless leisure and the high levels of consumption and production that are the basis of the World State’s stability. Soma is a third example of the kind of medical, biological, and psychological technologies that Brave New World criticizes most sharply.…
The sophomore class at Robert C Byrd is up to activity on their High School careers. Even though it feels like they were just preparing themselves for their first day of high school yesterday. “It is always weird trying to plan your future at your sophomore year, but it helps a lot because it gets practice in when you have to do it alone”, said senior Alisia Moore. Many students joke around this age don’t take everything serious but it is the most important time of your life.…
This is a whole new year for me. No longer a freshmen but a sophomore. It feels like a brand new me. I am more familiar with everyone I met as a freshmen. I also have better classes. This is my second year as a catholic student and I am loving the experience. Last year I was not sure if I wanted to stay because the whole church thing and the uniforms just was not me because I went to private school my whole life. But I am glad I stayed at Monsignor Donovan High School home of the Griffins.…
High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…
6th grade came to an end and 7th grade came around next. 7th grade was the beginning of junior high school. Junior high school means a new school. And with my luck, none of my friends were at this new beginning of my life. Because my anxiety has grown since the beginning of 5th grade, I wasn’t excited on going to a new school to make new beginnings.…
My fifth grade experience was a very confusing experience for a 10 year old. I was transitioned into a better neighborhood because my parents wanted the best education with the most positive surroundings that were possible in our area of Conroe, Texas. I went to a predominately “white” area where the morals and teachings of schools were a bit more robust and structured. I was offered this chance at school because we used my uncle’s address to prove that I was in that school zone. The teachers in this area had a sense of “teaching” rather than getting the students to learn the material, as mentioned in Jean Anyon’s article “Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work”…
Adjustment is a process by which a living organism maintains a balance between the need and the circumstances, the variables included for the study apart from adjustment are age, gender and class type of school, furthermore adjustment to high school level of knowledge is one problem that the students mostly encountered, so each person brings to adjustment his unique personality which includes his own assets and liabilities, and adjust to every situations brings about maladjustments ranging from minor to severe conditions, hence there is some evidence that students’ transition experience increased feelings of isolation during their first year after transition. Approximately one-tenth of new students are reported never to start, avoid situations that are likely to result in trouble, or seem confident in social situations. Starting school can be very exciting time for adolescent. It can also be very confusing and quite scary for some teens. The seventh grade is the seventh year after kindergarten. Students are usually 12-13 years old. Traditionally seventh grade was the next to last year of elementary school. Like those tweens who just graduated from elementary and upcoming Grade 7 they can’t adjust easily but sometimes they can easily adjust through the help of their teachers, family, friends and others. They lose self-confidence because of the new environment and people around him/her that he/she didn’t know. The problem about grade 7 students is that they easily get nervous and scared. Scared to figure things out, to discover new things or even to make new friends. Another is that they mostly chose friends are just bad influence, but it’s really up to them on how they should handle things out in adjusting.…
