“Wake up!” yelled a 12-year-old girl named Zoe who is trying to awake her sister. Zoe’s sister’s name is Penny who is 7 years old. Both of them live in China at the border of Hangzhou city. Penny and Zoe’s mom as known as Mrs. Carelona is Chinese and their father as known as Mr. Carelona is American. Zoe yelled again “wake up!” But Penny was in a deep sleep. Zoe grabbed Penny’s nightdress and started shaking her hard. It is early morning- 7:00am and Zoe tiptoed across the hall silently, to the living room. Mom was making Chinese tea for dad while he was reading the newspaper. “Zoe” mom said. “Yes” Zoe replied. “Your breakfast is on the table, once you’re done eating, wear your uniform to get ready for school” mom said. “Sure mom, may you awake …show more content…
“Wake up Penny” she said. After saying it 3 times, Penny didn’t wake up. “She’s not going to wake up easily” mom said. Then she got an Idea and started to tickle Penny. Penny popped her eyes open and started laughing. Then she rushed to the bathroom to brush her teeth. After getting ready, she drank her milk and ate her sandwich. When Penny saw the school bus through the window, she burst out of the house door and hopped on the bus. They arrived at school and both sisters walked to their classes. Penny organized her books and pencil case on her study table. After few minutes their 2nd grade teacher Ms. Emily came in wearing a bun with few other books. She was wearing high-healed sandals that were pure black. She read the weekday schedule and after attending few classes the students lined up with their snacks for recess. During recess Penny ate her snack and went off running around the slides. She played and played and played until the bell rang, then the students went back to study. At the end of a nice day, Ms. Emily handed math worksheets for students to finish at home. Then, the students walked across the playground and hopped in the bus to go …show more content…
Emily. After few minutes she walked in with Sabrina and stood in front of the board. “I’m sorry I yelled at you all and I almost forgot to tell you that Sabrina stammers or struggles while talking.” Ms. Emily informed. “But please, don’t ever be rude to your classmates especially to the new ones.” Ms. Emily said aloud. “So the ones who were laughing today, I’ll call your names and you’ll have to come and see me at the end of the day.” Ms. Emily informed. So at the end of the day Ms. Emily called out the names, gave them extra math work sheets to finish, and she also made them say “sorry” out loud in front of Sabrina. Then all the students walked across the playground in a line and hopped on the bus. At home Penny told her family everything what happened in school. All about Sabrina, Ms. Emily, Homework, and the punishments to most of the students except herself and the other few. After this conversation mom said “ It’s true. You should never laugh on others who have these problems.” “But why does she struggles while talking mom?” Penny asked. “It’s called stammering. She stammers while talking. Example: Puh-Puh-Penny. A lot of people have these problems while speaking and it’s not their fault at all. It’s just the way they are.” Mom answered. “Then isn’t that unfair?” Zoe asked. “Yes, it’s unfair for them so you should be thankful for what you get and more than that, you should help the ones that have these problems” Mom replied. Both sisters agreed and nodded. “I didn’t

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. The data was proof that mortality rates were down, and sanitary conditions were improved in hospitals. In focusing on these trends, Florence Nightingale opened up the way for the populations in nursing and saved and improved many lives. Florence Nightingale was born into a wealthy British family at the Villa Colombaia in Florence, Italy. She was inspired by what she thought to be a divine calling. At the age of 17 at Embley Park, Nightingale made a commitment to nursing and human healthcare. This decision demonstrated strong will on her part in that she was willing to go beyond normality. It had constituted a rebellion against the expected role for women at that time, which was to become an obedient and humble wife. Nursing was a career with a poor reputation during that period of time. It was filled mostly by poor women, called "hangers-on", who had followed the armies when in war or in hardship. Nightingale announced her decision about nursing to her family in 1845,…

“Skrt skrt!” The brand new 2003 minivan door slowly slid closed as my mom held my hand. My first day of kindergarten started walking through the rocky terrain up to Jacobson Elementary School on a hot, summer morning. Prepared with my lunch box full of goodies and plaid backpack weighing me down, I walked through the gates to the kindergarten playground. My mom helped me find the girl I met on “Meet the Teacher Night” and stayed close by as we played in the ant-infested, wood chip playground. Then suddenly, in the middle of making a wood chip pancake, the bell rang as if it was taunting me, I knew what was about to happen and so did my mother as I watched her face droop more and more as the bell rang it’s three chimes. My mom walked with me to the wall my teacher designated as the wall to line up on. My hand started to constrict around my mother’s as we approached the wall, as we got closer my knuckles began to turn white. My teacher, Mrs. Priest, announced it was time for the parents to leave.…

We reviewed the day’s plan as I helped him clean up. While cleaning around the room I noticed how colorful the room was. There were: banners of letters and numbers hanging on the wall, as well as a large alphabet carpet on the floor for the kids to sit on, toys to play with and books to read. As the children arrived, they removed their belongings and placed them in the cubbies. Afterwards, they grabbed their name tags and set their lunchboxes on the lunchbox table.
