It is unlikely Yeti and Sasquatch actually exist. There are many argument on whether Yeti and Sasquatch are real or fake such as: There have been claims that people have, DNA samples, footprints, pictures, sighting and they also have not been scientifically proven to be real. What are Yeti and Sasquatch? Michael Johnson said.“They are tall hairy humanoids”. (Sasquatch Investigations 1). Yetis are more of an arctic type. A lot of people think of them to be white, but they have been found to be light brown or reddish brown also. Yeti and Sasquatch have a possibility of being real, but it's unlikely since sightings are rare and they are not scientifically proven to exist. I think that people who believe in mythical creatures like unicorns, dragons, lmps, hippogriffs, manticorns, gnomes, mermaids, griffins, fairies, etc. believe in Sasquatch or yeti. There is some evidence the existence of these creatures is possible, but it is not scientifically proven they exist and this evidence could be anything other than what people say they are. This is some of the evidence people claim they have on the existence of the yeti and Sasquatch. Some claim to have found DNA samples of the Sasquatch and Yeti. Sharon Hill said “A team of scientists can verify that their 5-year long DNA study, currently under peer-review, confirms the existence of a novel hominin hybrid species, commonly called “Bigfoot” or “Sasquatch” living in North America. Researchers’ extensive DNA sequencing suggests that the legendary Sasquatch is a human relative that arose approximately 15,000 years ago as a hybrid cross of modern Homo sapiens with an unknown primate species.” (The Committee for Skeptical Inquiry …show more content…

Over time Ketchum received many more DNA samples. Most hair samples tested turn out to be other animals like cows, dogs, horses, and bears. I don't believe they have proven these DNA samples are Sasquatch or yeti hair samples, but it could be possible. A geneticist from Oxford University well-known for his research on human evolution ,Bryan Sykes, comment on an international research study. He said, “An international research team has published an analysis of dozens of hair samples from mystery animals around the world. None reveal existence of Yeti or Bigfoot.” (Science news.org) Footprints have been claimed to have been found and thought to be from the Yeti or Sasquatch. Jeffrey Meldrum, Department of Biological Sciences, said “Hundreds of large humanoid footprints have been discovered and many have been photographed or preserved as plaster casts.” In his article there are many pictures of large footprints that could be the yeti or Sasquatch. It states that “The footprints measured approximately 35 cm (13.75 in) long and 13 cm (5.25 in) wide.” Whenever people find footprints they take a cast molding of them and try to sell them. These footprints are probably not

Further forensics of this hair, found in the trunk of Casey Anthony’s car, showed that the hair was in fact human, but there wasn’t part of the root, or DNA tissue so they identification could not be exact. However, the unknown hair had shown many similarities to that of the hair sample of Caylee Anthony, but it could not be determined for certain. Mitochondrial DNA was used to narrow down the identity, “Mitochondrial DNA is forensically useful to confirm a female lineage but does not individualize to one person” (Crime Museum). After this testing was done, it limited the hair to be that of a…

A decade after scientists first cracked the human genome, researchers announced that they have done the same for Neanderthals, the species of hominid that existed from roughly 400,000 to 30,000 years ago, when their closest relatives, early modern humans, may have driven them to extinction (1,3,5,9,10). Led by ancient-DNA expert Svante Pääbo of Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, scientists reconstructed about 60% of the Neanderthal genome by analyzing tiny chains of ancient DNA extracted from bone fragments of three female Neanderthals excavated in the late 1970s and early '80s from a cave in Croatia (6,8). The bones are 38,000 to 44,000 years old. The genetic information turned up some intriguing findings, indicating, for instance, that at some point after early modern humans migrated out of Africa, they mingled and mated with Neanderthals, possibly in the Middle East or North Africa as much as 80,000 years ago (5,7,10). If that is the case, it occurred significantly earlier than scientists who support the interbreeding hypothesis would have…

In American legends since the early 1900s, there has been myths and fables about a creature that roams the forests of the United States and even sightings in Canada. The native name for it is Sasquatch (Shone, 2006, p. 2). People that have claimed to have seen it describe it as a muscular ape-like body, large, about six feet nine inches tall, and covered in hair that is black, dark brown, or even reddish. Huge footprints that have been recovered have been claimed to be as large as 24 inches long and eight inches wide (Theisen, 2011, p. 5). Which is why it is notorious for the name Bigfoot (Shone, p. 2).…
