Statement Of Purpose To Pursue A Degree At Panera Bread
I never realized how much my perspective on going to college would change after getting my first job at Panera Bread a few years ago. I always knew I wanted to go to college but I never understood the importance until getting my first low-skilled job which was at Panera Bread. Like many kids my age, the summer of turning seventeen was when I decided to get my first job. I now had a driver's license and a car that my grandpa helped me buy, so naturally, my working middle-class parents wanted me to help pay for car insurance. In addition to helping pay car insurance, I also knew I would need to start saving for college and I would be paying the majority of it myself with some help from my parents and grandparents. Finally like every other person …show more content…
I want to have a job with paid breaks, a work environment that encourages critical and analytical thinking and will have paid vacation along with other benefits. I pretty much got thrown head first into what working as an adult was like. Making sure I was at work on time, working long hours, taking people shifts, learning how to do various positions in the store, and making many friends that to this day I am still friends with. These qualities of Panera Bread taught me many “soft’ skills such as responsibility and good work ethic. It was also a great way to bond and meet new people, which was especially nice to me considering how introverted of a person I am. I would not go to many social events unless I had to so gave me time to practice people skills and make new friends. By meeting these people I developed respect for the people and they did the same for me. Many of my previous and current managers are references for me for my portfolio. These are all positive aspects that I hope to look for in my future job and encourages me to go to college to seek these …show more content…
So I decided my next school year I would prove to myself exactly how much I could accomplish. So this past school year I have reached my goal of having straight A’s every quarter in every class meanwhile, working around twenty hours every weekend, while having school nights completely dedicated to school. This current school year I am a senior at my high school but going full-time to community college instead, meanwhile still working at Panera Bread for thirty to thirty-five hours a week. I am exceedingly proud of myself for being able to accomplish this task, each of these school years. I have proven to myself I can accomplish anything I set my mind to with hard work and dedication. Each day I work at Panera Bread is a constant reminder of why I want to go to college to be able to get a better job. Working at Panera Bread is so much better knowing that the money I get from this job will go towards my education, leading to a job I actually want. While we must have people to occupy these low-skilled jobs in order for society to function, I personally do not want that to be a part of my future. My next accomplishment that I have set as a personal goal is, to succeed in college and graduate to further do well late on in life. This will hopefully allow me to find a new job, besides Panera Bread, that I enjoy and challenges

My goal is to have a job that I am passionate about that will also help me be financially stable and independent. As of now, I am only able to attend college because I have received a decent amount of federal aid, but approximately one-third of the aid I have received is from loans that will only accumulate in the years to come. Even with the loans and other financial aid, I am struggling to pay off my bill each semester while also trying to save up for my future. So far, college has been the most enriching experience of my life, and I cannot imagine what I would be doing if I chose not to attend. It has opened my eyes to new perspectives and knowledge that I may not have had otherwise; if I had to drop out for any reason, especially financial, I would be devastated, as I have already rooted myself in the culture and potential that it has to offer me.…
