Stereotypes: The Causes Of Arachnophobia
I remember when I was younger I played a game of hide and and seek with my brothers. I was hiding in my garage when all the sudden I saw a giant, hairy wolf spider! I ran to my brothers and parents and told them what had seen, but when we got there it was gone. Many people have a horrible fear of spiders or arachnophobia. Arachnophobia is a very simple and common phobia and, in my opinion, is very obnoxious. A person with a very bad arachnophobia could freak out or faint in a very stressful situation. Through scientific studies they found out that 50 percent of women and 18 percent of men have arachnophobia. Mostly women have arachnophobia but men get it too so both genders can be scared of spiders.

Some think that the fear depends on the different background like how in Africa they were scared of spiders while in South America they ate spiders and weren’t afraid of them. So it might be a cultural difference that decides whether we are afraid or not. Also people believe people believe that it might be due to an event earlier in life. But, this event would have to be terrifying in order to leave such a emotional scar. Also people with arachnophobia can be scared of scorpions too. It might just be the strange similarities but, in my opinion, they are much more frightening. People have no reason to be scared of spiders, but they do have a reason to be scared of scorpions. I think that because they stink poisonous venom into your flesh and they have claws like crabs. Also they have many have many frightening features like their multiple eyes/legs, red shells, mandibles, and whip-like tails. Spiders also share those physical features like how they have multiple eyes/legs, black shells, mandibles, and abdomen. These features would frighten most people by themselves whether they are scared of anything or not. Imagine how someone who has arachnophobia staring into the eyes of a spider/scorpion, they would most likely faint at the sight of this. They would definitely freak out stepping on a spider or walking into a spider web. Some therapist processes are a bit different from other therapist’s. Like how some don’t even use the relaxing technique and do other activities instead. Those therapist tell the their patients to use a paintbrush to touch a spider or tarantula. Then they move on to touch them with a gloved hand. Finally they touch the spider or tarantula with their bare hand. In conclusion people do not need to be scared of spiders and if they are they can see a therapist to help them get over

Creepy crawlers are totally disgusting! I have a strong hate towards them and i do not think that is going to change because to tell you the truth my number one phobia is bugs. Sounds very embarrassing, but having phobias is common. Just ask a boy named Martin in the story called “The Elevator” written by William Slator. The story is about a boy who tumbles across phobias as they get presented right in front of him throughout the story. He has three fears, the elevator, the fat lady, and his dad’s judgement. William Slator also telegraphs Martins’ lack of ability to get over his fears by building suspense through Martins’ thoughts and actions which are all efforts to avoid these fears. Mainly he is doing this because he is claustrophobic…

Fearing the known is typical for human beings according to Levitt and Dubner. I completely disagree because I don’t fear snakes, spiders, or being enclosed in a small, confined or crowded room. According to Statisticbrain.com, sixty percent of people fear the things that will probably never take place. My Aunt Kelly is one of these people, she refuses to leave her home anytime after 12 noon. She believe that after noon people are getting off of their shift and rushing to get their errands ran and after that rushing to get home. No matter the emergency or situations, don’t expect Aunt Kelly to come to your rescue after noon because she will not leave here home for any reason. Levitt and Dubner state that humans are fearful of the known risks like shark attacks. In many cases that may be true for many people but not for me. What I fear is the unknown important risk such as cancer. From the American Cancer Society, http://www.cancer.org, in the United States the number of people who have been a staggering 12,549,000. Cancer is an important unknown risk to me and I fear it because it’s considered to be a silently killer. I am definitely scared of cancer because it is an important risk that poses a threat to my loved ones and to myself. I have never been faced with a situation where I had to fear any of these unsettling dangerous matters. I do my best to stay healthy and active so that my chances are much lower. People should…

Once, when I was five, my older brother had to watch over his friend’s pet tarantula. My older brother had the brilliant idea of showing me the spider and letting it crawl on him. Whenever I saw him I’d think of a gigantic and disgusting spider appearing randomly near him. He kept it in the cage most of the time, but since I was young I let my fears get the best of me, even if it was defanged. Many people suffer from irrational fears like being afraid of the dark, a certain animal, or even open spaces.…

They have poisonous snakes in the lake that my dad lives on. They are called Water Moccasins. Water Moccasins are snakes.
