Those in the healthcare profession are respected, hardworking individuals who went above and beyond to prove themselves capable of helping others in the greatest way possible. My career goals are very straightforward. I’ve taken several steps in high school to accomplish these goals by being well disciplined in my studies, and participating in a Health Careers Internship Program. This program offers me a variety of opportunities that make me a more applicable in a healthcare setting. I’ve learned how to build a strong résumé and cover letter, and how do professional interviews well. We also get the chance to observe and participate in a medical environment. I’ll be shadowing with Dr. Steve Carr at Northern Star Therapy and learn the basics of physical therapy. I’ve done also done volunteer work in a Geriatric setting, at the St. Benedict nursing home in St. Cloud. My plans following high school are to attend the University of Minnesota in the College of Biological Sciences. My hopes are to complete my undergraduate in there in the Pre-Medicine program, attend graduate school, and specialize in a currently undecided field of…

It will also enable me to achieve my ultimate dream of becoming an exceptional medical…
In this statement, I would like to express my interest in participating in the SHPEP summer program. I was fortunate enough to hear about this summer opportunity when the University of Florida college of public health & health professions visited my school. I’m interested in the program because of the opportunities that this program offers to me as an undergraduate student. With my interest in pursuing a career in either physical therapy or sports medicine, I feel this program will give me a chance to explore these careers. I also see this as a chance to gain some valuable experience that I could use as an advantage when applying to some of the most competitive graduate schools. It is for the reasons in which I’ve expressed that I show such…
I continue to engage in medical experiences with my most memorable being, a six-week intense summer program offered by the University of Miami's School of Medicine, which aims to provide a mini medical school experience. We were taught several courses by medical school professors, including Anatomy & Physiology lab where we studied a human cadaver. As well, I shadowed doctors in departments such as Neurology and Trauma, where I observed my first surgery. This experience exposed me to the patience and detail of practicing medicine and interconnectedness…
As a humble alumna of Savannah State University, I believe I have much to achieve in life. As the youngest of four siblings who all value education and prosperity, I was taught to excel in everything I do. I am a native of Savannah, Georgia and I have lived here all of my life. Due to great effort and my love for learning, I received a four year academic scholarship to Savannah State University (which I am so grateful for).…

Throughout my school years, I have always wanted to help in the community and make an impact to others therefore when entering my freshman year, I joined many different clubs but one stood out to me which was Key Club assists students in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. In the club, we do many acts of service in their communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives. We also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and more so. It provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. One thing that impacted me from doing community work was the Eliminate Project which is a campaign to raise $110 million to eliminate…
I’ve watched a neurosurgeon elbow deep inside a woman's spine, and within four hours he had improved her quality of life. That’s where I hope to go. As a physician, to have the privilege of awarding someone their life back. The commencement of this journey is Dartmouth. By utilizing the D-Plan, I am not limited by highly competitive internships. As someone with an interest in both biology and history, Dartmouth proffers an approach for successfully incorporating a History minor without compromising the structure of the Biology major. Furthermore, MAPS would educate me about health disparities that minorities face and offer guidance on the medical school application process.…
With less than a year left of school, I’ve been applying myself in so many different areas in order to better myself as a future doctor. Volunteering, shadowing and extra-curricular activities have all been part of my doings. I've got to admit these past three and a half years have been, by far, extremely interesting and challenging. I have been learning about life, health, body systems and their functions. It is fascinating to learn about the biological and chemical make-up of the human body and the countless processes that are occurring constantly within us. I am looking forward to entering medical school to learn in an even greater detail about the many different interactions with our body systems.…
My name is Allison Dilaurentis; I am currently attending Eastridge High School. The reason I'm Interested in the medical field is because the human body and all its functions fascinate me to the fullest. Knowing the life of a person lying in my hands is very important to me and I'm aware and prepared for all the responsibilities it comes with. Being that I one day want to join the Medical field I want to have as many real life hands on experiences and practice as possible. Having the opportunity of being able to be a part of this wonderful summer program would be an honor if given the chance. I want to become a Trauma Surgeon one day and I believe this program would be a very beneficial way to learn more deeply how fast pace the medical field really is rather than hearing it learning it from a book. I am a very intelligent driven student and I know this program would benefit me the to the fullest from everything taught to me during the camp. I know I will put to use every experience encountered during various field trips to medical facilities will improve the way I tend to my desired profession in the Medical Field. Med Camp would also give me a very large advantage by teaching me the basics and learning how critical any situation in the medical field can be. I know attending Med Camp during the summer will give me extensive practice and immense knowledge that I may have not learned till I was older or till my Internship or Fellowship before being on my own in the Medical field. In the end I would really love to be given the opportunity to attend this prestigious program to learn and experience fully all the medical field has to offer.…
