Imagine being trapped in the middle of nowhere, nothing to do, nothing to eat and no one is there to keep you safe from the harsh environment. Would you have the will to survive? The point is you need to have hope if you want to survive, because without hope we would have to rely on, well nothing. What really are goals? Having goals in life means approaching life with a plan. How does this relate to survival? Well imagine yourself in an arena filled with people trying to kill you. What would you do? Would you get flustered and not think anything through or would you take a moment to set some goals and then go from there? In the series “The Hunger Games” which is mostly about a scenario just like this, the main character Katniss is thrown that very question. She chose to set goals for what she was going to do so that she had a game plan. Then she went ahead and followed her goals and believed in what she was doing. The final result was she was one of the last people standing and wouldn’t have got there if she didn’t have confidence in the goals she had set. Those people that didn’t think the situation through were the first to have died, which backs up my statement that you need to have hope and to have hope you need to set goals. Do you try another way to achieve your goal or do you keep trying the same strategy just to find that you keep on failing? Well in the movie “The Maze Runner” there is a guy named Thomas and he is thrown into a maze and has to try and find a way out because the only place that is safe is the centre of the maze. Thomas makes many attempts to find the exit and after each unsuccessful attempt he changes his plan of attack by reflecting on went wrong and making small changes to try and succeed but is still aiming towards the same goal of escaping. He keeps his pathways flexible which enables him to try many different things to escape the maze. He always maintains hope in what he is doing and it is because of this positivity that he eventually finds the correct way to achieve his goal of escaping the maze. If Thomas hadn’t of changed his plan he would be forever failing and would have lost all hope. This proves that without hope and learning from your mistakes it is truly difficult to
