Taking A Look At Gatorade Advertisements
Every Ounce Counts Gatorade is an American sports drink company that has refreshed athletes since 1965. Every year, Gatorade comes out with a variety of new advertisements to sell their product. In this year’s 2017 NFL preview edition of Sports Illustrated, Gatorade features an advertisement that stands out among the rest. Even though Gatorades advertisement in Sports Illustrated was rather simple, the advertisement does a good job of displaying how drinking Gatorade can make you an explosive athlete. Just like J.J. Watt is in the ad. The Gatorade advertisement has a simplistic nature demonstrated by only two combined images and 14 words. Upon first glance the item that is most notable is the phrase “Every Ounce Counts.” This phrase is placed …show more content…

The advertisement does not feature a bunch of fancy text and a bunch of pictures of people drinking Gatorade. It’s a good thing that Gatorade did not try to overdo this advertisement. If they would have added a bunch of necessary text it would have taken away from the main focus of the advertisement, which is the slogan “Every Ounce Counts.” Likewise, it is also a positive addition that Gatorade did not overflow the advertisement with unnecessary images. The excessive use of images can often times make the advertisement look sloppy and unorganized. The addition of these unneeded images would have taken away from Gatorades main focal point of the advertisement, which is the football player bursting out of the …show more content…

Even though there are only 14 words in the entire ad, the text is used efficiently. The phrase “Every ounce counts” makes the reader wonder what exactly that means. If the reader looks just to the right of the text the image of J.J. Watt “bursting” out of the Gatorade bottle gives the reader a good idea of what it could mean. It could mean that if you drink Gatorade you will have that extra ounce of energy to make you an explosive athlete. Then the factual text of, “carbs and electrolytes to help you give that extra ounce” gives the reader it’s vividly clear message. This text now tells the reader how drinking Gatorade will help them achieve the goal of giving the extra

This advertisement shows rhetorical appeal through the use of logos and pathos. It reinforces the need to stop consuming diet sodas. The picture also appeals to the audience’s sense of life preservation. Aspartame and Donald Rumsfeld are shown in the background surrounded by lightening representing danger on both accounts. The main focus of this propaganda photo advertisement is on the young girl fighting a type of blood cancer. The girl in the photo is unaware of the link between diet soda and cancer, as she continues to drink a diet soda. Rumsfeld greatly influenced the approval of aspartame by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regardless of the negative outcomes from short and long term studies. The studies on aspartame…

This project was to see if orange juice can benefit the body more than gatorade can. If orange juice has more electrolytes than gatorade, then orange juice can help the body stay more hydrated. Athletes care about getting enough electrolytes because the athletes need to stay hydrated when working out and playing sports. The independent variable is the orange juice, gatorade, and distilled water. The dependent variable is the electrolytes measured in milliamps. The results were that the gatorade had 0.01 milliamps more than the orange juice and the distilled water stayed at zero. The hypothesis was not supported because the hypothesis states that the orange juice has more electrolytes than the gatorade. If the experiment was repeated, the amount…

This ad could be an astronomical setback for a company by directly addressing one of the issues of alcohol abuse. The third and final appeal is Logos (logical appeal). Logos comes into play when the advertisement starts stating the facts about breastfeeding and how much it will cost the teen if they use formula instead. Showing numbers in advertisement gives a realistic view or payment to parenthood. Teens don’t usually think about the consequences of teen pregnancy and one of them is monetary. By stating how much they will spend on baby formula shows teens that money is also involved with raising a child. At a young age, many teens think they’ll just have a child and that it. Having a child is a lifetime…

Millions of people drink sports drinks like Gatorade everyday, But very few people actually know what ingredients make up their favorite sports drink. Gatorade was thought up in 1965 by an assistant coach of the Florida Gators at the University of Florida and his team of physicians who wanted to create something to help his players deal with the heat of the Florida sun. They created a concoction they deemed “Gatorade”, named after the team of course. The beverage set out to replenish not only the fluids they lost on the field but the carbohydrates and electrolytes. After they instituted this drink the team began out doing their opponents in the heat and ended the season 7-3, But the question here is not “Does gatorade work?”…

Gatorade is formulated to rehydrate and replenish fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes as well as to "quench your thirst." According to Wikipedia, "Gatorade is the official sports drink of NASCAR, the NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, USA Basketball, NHL, Association of Volleyball Professionals, US Soccer Federation, Major League Soccer, High School Sports Teams, and the Chelsea F.C. in the UK." It's no wonder why so many people choose it as their go-to drink. I make sure to always have at least one case at my house. Not only do I use it when working out and playing sports, but it also helps me feel better when I get sick. When you begin to feel your energy slipping, Gatorade is an excellent choice to help pick yourself back…

As individuals of society we are continuously and subconsciously affected by media’s tactics to persuade us into falling victim into their marketing schemes. Witty yet brilliant individuals cough up slogans that will inevitably affect many consumers to come. The advertisement that initially captured my attention was the Gatorade Sports Drink Commercial. To start off, the advertisement contained text and visuals that demonstrated that Gatorade is a necessity to succeed in athletics. Moreover, the commercial demonstrated with the assistance of Nba Stars Dwayne Wade and Kevin Durant, you need the nutrients that Gatorade provides in order to compete in sports and to become the ultimate athlete and champion. I believe this ad creates limitations and viewers are led to believe that they must consume Gatorade due to the…

Since the creation of Gatorade in 1987 sports drinks have become a staple of American athletics. Every major sports league, including the NBA, NHL, MLB, NFL and NASCAR, are sponsored by and use of Gatorade Thirst Quencher. All Sport and Powerade, two other smaller market sports drinks, have limited sponsorships of smaller sports leagues including the NCAA. The question is, how effective is Gatorade and other sports drinks in doing what it they're advertised to do? One has to wonder if the wide use of Gatorade is merely due to billions of dollars of advertising pumped in by the company or if it actually does quench "that deep down body thirst." The majority of the internet research to determine the how and if these sports drinks work will center on Gatorade because it is the only sports drink with significant information on the world wide web. It shouldn't be too much of problem comparing sports drinks due to the fact that most of the sports drinks have rather similar ingredients.…

The full page ad is for Special K Protein cereal. The page is centered with a picture of cereal on top of a jelly doughnut with the filling pooling out. It would appear that if the reader were to buy and eat this cereal that it could help them take on their worst cravings and come out on top. It suggests that the reader will have more willpower to resist temptations such as a doughnut if they have Special K brand cereal instead. What little text there is indicates that, “Special K has 10 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber” to help consumers feel full and fight their cravings for sweets. Though mention of this product being a diet aid or supplement is not explicitly stated it is implied by Special Ks slogan of “What will you gain when you lose?” The ad is simple but direct and works well to show that the product can help reduce hunger and aid with weight loss. The main focus of the ad appears to be its appeal to logos. It is logical to assume if you eat a high fiber cereal you will feel full longer and not give in to cravings for junk…
