The main thing that connects every member of the team tightly is having the common mission. The supervisors should set the goals for each team, such as coding team will ensure the patients’ records are coded accordingly with the clinical documents, billing team will assure the correct invoices are sent to the
right payers, like primary and secondary insurances, patients, the financial team will monitor the revenue cycles (Oach & Watter, 2016, p. 738).
Beside, the potent supervisors will lead the teams to move in the right and expected directions to reach the goals (Oach & Watter, 2016, p. 738). These supervisors will monitor and ensure that the works are accomplished properly and timely. They must possess and enhance their systematic abilities to lead the teams by building the agendas, arranging meetings, directing teams’ discussions, providing feedbacks, and making suggestions for the teams. They are the strong bases to keep the teams moving forward.
Additionally, the teams must have their own rules; for examples, having a set schedule for team meeting to discuss the goals; agreement on voting to address all decision. Establishing the teams’ rules will prevent the conflicts between members. Teams’ members should know their roles and responsibilities in the teams. It would help the supervisors in assigning and tracking the progress of the teams’ works (Oach & Watter, 2016, p. 738). Also, the supervisors should build the techniques to encourage the involvement and sharing of every member to teams’ discussions and works. The supervisors should set timelines for each member. That will ensure the forward progresses of each member and the whole teams toward their goals.
Occasionally, the supervisors can arrange teams meeting outside of works, such as teams’ lunches or happy hours, to help teams’ members to know and have better understanding of others. Reinforcing teams’ relationships will propel the workflow to be more effective and productivity.
