The participants were 406 undergraduate students ranging from the ages 18 to 64. Participants were given three assessments. The assessments were titled Approaches and Study Skills Inventory Test (ASSIST), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, and an Evaluation Anxiety scale. The student’s reports were recorded. The negative effects of not studying showed the poor grades received by the students that also reported a Grade Point Average (GPA) downfall. The positive effects of studying presented better grades on exams and in the classroom. The students also reported improvement in Grade Point Averages. The purpose of this study is to prove that when a student is well prepared for a test, the chances of them experiencing this type of performance anxiety will decrease. This is more a favorable outcome because decent study habits help a student to be better prepared, retain more information, and be less anxious. The two variables in this study are study habits and test anxiety. The independent variable is study habits and the dependent variable is the test anxiety. Study habits can be operationally defined as the amount of studying a student does in a measure time period. In this study, the dependent variable, test anxiety, is operationally defined as the student self-reporting any symptoms of anxiety during their experience while given an
