the accident that i can't forget
I am very fond of taking bath in rivers or canals and very often go for these purposes, sometimes with my friends and sometimes alone. Every time it was OK except that last Sunday which I can never forget.
On that Sunday, I went to the river with one of my friends. It was morning and on reaching the river bank we saw a crowd of people including young children had alrfeady reached there.
The river water was flowing in full speed this time. Therefore, those who were elderly were bathing peacefully in the shallow water near the river bank. But the young children were very excited and once they stepped into the river, they hardly obeyed their parents. Seeing their excitement we also got excited.
We also put off our clothes and started bathing. Soon I noticed that a few naughty young boys turned to be noisy and started splashing water on one another. Sometimes they dropped one of the friends and threw him in deep water. Unfortunately the boy did not know swimming and within seconds he started drowning. All cried out "A drowning accident"!
The boy's life was in danger and the gravity of the situation demanded immediate action. I know how to swim. Therefore without thinking much, I at once jumped into the river water. I swam as fast as I could and soon I reached the boy. I caught his hair and tried to draw him to the bank. But unfortunately his hairs slipped from my hand and the boy again started to drown. I got nervous for a few seconds but I did not leave my effort.
This time I caught him by the neck and started dragging him to the bank. As the current was very swift and strong and was following in opposite direction, it looks several minutes but finally I came to the bank with the boy safely.
The boy had drunk a good deal of water and he was completely unconscious. We laid him on the bank and pressed his belly. Thank God that water gurgled out and the boy became conscious. A big crowd had gathered in between and all were patting on my back. The boy's parents,

It was a beautiful July day in 2014 when my family and I were camping at Holland Lake with our family friends Kinsey and Lauren. There wasn't a cloud in sight and the sun reflected off the bluish greenish water. The air smelt of smoke and fresh trees. Early in the morning when the campground is quiet you can even hear the waterfall. Holland Lake is a very busy lake with boaters, tubers, water skiers, ect. Since that day was so nice there were a bunch of boats on the lake the waves were huge. Kinsey, Lauren, Alex and I were all pretty close in age but Alex and Lauren were taller so they get the outside of the tube. When we all finished breakfast I changed into my swimming suit speedy fast and rode my bike as fast as I could to my cousins camper, Alex. I had to wait what felt like 5 hours for her to change. Once she was done we waited for Kinsey and Lauren at ¨The Beach¨. Alex and I killed time by talking about how much fun we were going to have…

As soon as we got there My Uncle Shaun and I were put on tent duty. We didn’t have a camper, or a houseboat, so the most reasonable option was to bring tents! This side of my family doesn’t go camping much, so I found it very interesting that we were “tenting.” Mostly my uncle set up the tents, since I was about eleven and didn’t like to work. I mean, I still don't, who does? Anyways, because I had my swimming suit on, I found it very appealing to go for a swim. So I stepped in and I did not expect what I got! The water was warm, a whopping 80 degrees fahrenheit! I had never been in water so warm until I came here. Normally we go to lakes/reservoirs it’s usually Island Park, Jensen’s Grove, or American…

The last of the ripples had just dissipated when I got to the spot he had disappeared. I took a gulp of air and dove under the brownish surface. I tried to open my eyes, but the filthy water stung and I couldn't see more than an inch in front of me. I felt around blindly and frantically.…

When Maci, my cousin, came to the lake we would go to the water and jump from the docs. Maci and I would play mermaids and take our life jackets off without permission. My family aboard the boat began to worry for one another safety. We were now in a life-threatening storm on the midst of a furious river. I observed the innocence of a child in my niece as the depressing look of fear surrounded her shivering, cold, wet body. Yet, she remained hopeful and prayed to God for eternal life in Heaven. We cried out desperate prayers while the raging storm pounded our pontoon boat like a boxing match. My grandfather maintained the courage and strength and proceeded to steer the boat in the horrific scene.…

When we got there we each had to fill out papers clearly stating our medical information but, of course, my parents had to sign too. Once everything had been signed we had to wait about thirty minutes for everyone else to get there. I was furious because we had to wear a stupid life jacket and I complained the whole time, saying stuff like I look stupid in this or I don’t wanna wear it. Finally after a while I had finally gotten over it and enjoyed the gorgeous scenery. After everyone had arrived there was almost over one hundred people! I thought it was going to be a group of about ten. After we went over the rules we had to board a bus to the river itself, which was about forty minutes or so. Once we had made it there we were all told to get into a raft and sit on the edges, but, of course my dad was in charge telling us all what to do. After, we had done a couple of rapids it was finally time for a swim break, right away I had fell out and scraped my knee and to make it even worse the water…

I had already jumped off of it many times, but I knew he would be scared to do it. The rock is twenty-five feet above the water, and it was all there. I lept off first. After I rose to the water’s surface I started convincing Chandler to jump. He walked up to the edge of the rock and let his life jacket drop. “Don’t, it’s suicide,” I screamed. He bailed off of the rock and didn’t come up. I waited and waited. He didn’t come up, so I swam back to the boat. I climbed up the boat ladder and sat down. I looked to my right and I saw nothing. I looked to my left and right beside me was Chandler! He had swum under water all the way from the rock to the boat without me noticing. I felt so great because I had successfully taught Chandler how to swim. He thanked me again and again. I had to tip my hat to him because he did something that I couldn’t even do. We packed up the boat and headed home. At the beginning of the day I thought that it would be impossible to teach him, but turns out he was a better swimmer than me the whole…

So me and the buds all went to the bridge. I had a terrible feeling about it, but I didn’t let that deter me. After the walk on the train tracks we got to the bridge. My bud Jace walked out into the water first and he said that it was deep enough for us to jump and so did my other bud Brody. The water looked dirty, but that didn’t deter any of us. My bud Jace climbed back up onto on the bridge and he said he wanted to jump off. Even though he wanted to jump he was a little bit scared too, but I don’t blame him for that one bit. After lots of motivation my bud Jace jumped off the bridge. It looked extremely exciting when he jumped.…

I saw the rip current open up a few times that day, but by the time it rolled around noon, it was pulling more because the water was going out for low tide. When I saw the raft, I never really put two and two together until the raft got in the rip current. Two kids and their dad were rapidly moving out to sea. I reacted just like we were taught in class; dropping my flag and calling in on the radio. I leaped from my tower to the sand, grabbed my buoy and sprinted down the beach. I did a perry angle and took off into the water, throwing my buoy to the side as I got knee deep in the surf. I porpoise dove through the shallow water, came up and sprinted out to my victims, keeping a close eye on them as I did. By the time I got to them, the dad had abandoned his kids and swam in saving himself. The kids had jumped out of the raft, which was now upside down and proceeded to try swimming the raft in. I told them I was a lifeguard and here to help. The girl, about my age, looked at me as if I were crazy and told me they didn't need any help. I looked at her younger brother, who was tired and panting, and I asked if he was okay. He desperately told me, gasping for a breath, that he needed help. I wouldn't have been able to bring both victims and the raft in, while fighting a rip current. So I firmly grabbed the rope on the raft, with each of them holding, and started to kick. I soon realized I was getting nowhere and still drifting out to sea. Panicking, I scanned the beach for back up. When the lifeguard truck pulled up, I let out a sigh of relief. There were about 5 guards who came hustling out of the truck with buoys to come and back me up. When they reached me, it took some pulling to get everyone in safely raft…
