The Butler-Waldroop Business Case Study: Career Anchors
• Career interests: According to Drobis (2016) while making reference to the Butler-Waldroop business career interest inventory, counseling and mentoring ranked as my core activity of interest followed by the need to influence through language and ideas, with creative production ranking third. Counseling, coaching and mentoring involves developing a variety of relationships, either personal or professional, aimed at helping others in their careers or businesses. Job titles or positions that afford me the opportunity to help individuals or even organisations develop from where they currently are to an improved state give me the most fulfillment. Knowing that I am contributing to the transformation of hopeless situations to hopeful ones gives me the utmost satisfaction. This involves helping others to identify the changes they want to see in themselves, in terms of behavior, attitude and relationship skills; and to develop themselves in order to reach where they desire to see themselves.

A scenario of this could be social projects that are from various sectors and industries with different geographical locations as is the case in BCG. With a prescribed system in place, it should be easier for autonomy to be granted to employees which allows them the opportunity to make decisions and own the work entrusted to them. The opportunity to mentor or coach other employees especially my subordinates would be a privilege especially since it is my career interest. Feedback is vital for purposes of growth and for the road towards excellence; however it has to be done in an orderly fashion as constructive as possible making the environment conducive for employee
