The Dislocated Worker Program

Certain organizations such as the Dislocated Worker Program are looking to retool workers who are unemployed by providing them with proper training for joining a new field of work. The program was created in 1998 by the Workforce Investment Act and is intended for workers who lost their jobs due to plant closures, company downsizing, or some other significant change in market conditions to be given the chance to have experienced training in another field. The goal of the program is to put those recently unemployed back into the labor force participation rate as soon as possible by teaching the workers new skills for a new occupation.
