It took about seven to ten minutes to get our first participant and then it felt like they just kept coming. We also were challenged by an individual who walked up to our booth and started to ask us things that were not even related to the topic we were promoting. Not only were the comments he made irrelevant to what we were encouraging, but they were also offensive and harmful to others. It was inappropriate of him to come forward and speak to us, and it was one of those situations where you just wondered why they felt the need to come to our booth and talk down on our activism. By being involved with diverse communities, everyone can learn tolerance, patience, problem solving skills, and can grow as a community. We also learned that physical differences were not what people were most excited about. Even though St. Cloud State is a physically diverse campus, it is also an internally diverse campus.
