The Last Gum Wrapper Advertising
The couple in the advertisement is the source of credibility for Extra. Even though they are actors, it doesn’t appear that they are faking their love based on the genuine smiles they share back and forth throughout the ad. No talking between the couple happens, just actions. In the commercial the actions speak enough to prove their affection. This sincerity makes the audience believe that the couples’ love is real and it could happen to anyone. The couple is naïve and vulnerable to love which makes it that much more personal. In the end of the commercial, all the wrappers that the boy had drawn are framed and hung on the wall. The last gum wrapper portrays a proposal. In this scene, the music in the background sings, “Take my hand,

The logos of the commercial, the logic arguments of rhetoric, were used in this commercial with a purpose of persuading the audience. They use supermodels to show the consumer that if you buy the product you will look attractive. As a rhetoric strategy they used hyperbole because as we can see in the video these supermodels wear this underwear with the purpose of selling you this product, but with a really exotic background, like expensive cars and a…

    Geico Advertising Appeals

Out of the many appeals that companies use to advertise their product or service, the need to achieve is one of the most commonly seen. In our highly competitive society, everybody is trying to get ahead. Everybody is looking for that little advantage that will push them forward. The appeal of achievement correlates with success and winning, ideas that represent the outcomes of hard work on which people like to pride themselves. In many of their ads, Geico likes to tap into our competitive nature by offering us incentives, such as saving time and money, which speak specifically to our consumer culture. Such a tactic proves to be effective because for the most part, consumers in our ambitious society like to be frugal and fiscally responsible. Nobody wants to spend an extra dime if they do not have to. Simultaneously, customers do not want to spend all day looking for the perfect insurance. They know that time is a finite resource and it must be spent wisely. In order to persuade customer’s into buying their insurance, Geico effectively utilizes the achievement appeal because it resonates with their goals of saving time and money.…

The article “Nestle in Review of ‘Gold Blend Couple’ Strategy” reviews the possible future of a past advertisement to see if it will market as well today as in the 1980’s. In the 1980’s, Nestle released a series of commercials featuring a “will they or won’t they couple” who were neighbors. The commercial saga depicts the ongoing relationship between the neighbors and their interactions with each…

“Need a moment? Grab a Twix!” We all know this famous line from every Twix candy bar commercial. The question “Need a moment?” as a general question can refer to a variety of things, ever realize though, that in every Twix commercial that the ‘needed moment’ is a moment for the men to find a cover story to save their ass? And how after ‘taking a moment’ to eat a Twix they come up with a believable excuse that every woman accepts without question. If you’ve never thought about that before you now are. One question that came to my mind when I found this similarity in commercials, which just might also be going through your minds as well, was why. Why would a company choose to advertise their product this way? The answer is simple; because it works. The commercials are using simple rhetoric to convince its audience to buy their product.…

In the Lucky Charms Ad the other is the leprechaun. The normal would be the little children that it is trying to steal cereal from the kids. It is made clear because the leprechaun in the ads represents the typical Irish American stereo types. The stereo types used are that leprechauns are mischievous and thieves. It is clear that the children have power in these ads. In every ad the leprechaun steals cereal from the children, and the children always get the food back. The ads always depict the leprechaun as bad and the children as good. The complaints of the other are that they want the lucky charms. They are given a voice, but it is clear that what they want is in the wrong. You can tell because the leprechaun never gets the cereal in the end.…

Over the years Marlboro has had a clear shift in the way they advertise for their cigarettes. This shift is caused by many social and historical trends of the certain time period. One of the biggest driving forces for the way ads are created is the social class. Throughout history the social class is continually changing and as it changes so do the advertisements that are geared to that social class. This platform of ever-changing advertisements is easily illustrated as one looks from decade to decade. Marlboro’s ad campaigns go from the high class and lavish perspective, to the hardcore man’s man, to the cowboy way of life.…

The message that the commercial’s plot portrays is that overtime we take what we have learned from the people we love. The dad always gave to the girl; now, it’s her chance to give back to him. Extra’s slogan fits right in with the message they are trying to portray in their commercial. Extra Gum captures important moments from our life and inserts a silvery gum-wrapper that is folded into origami cranes. They’re not selling the gum; they’re selling the relationship. People long for deep, meaningful connections with others. Through the commercial, viewers can see that Extra Gum can make that dream a…

The advertisement for Camel cigarettes appears in the February 2015 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine. Prominently displayed in the middle of this full-page ad is a pack of Camel cigarettes. The three lines “Since 1913” “Turkish Domestic Blend” and “Blue” have an eye-catching effect caused by the off-white colored font and blue background found on the pack of cigarettes. The ad uses a mahogany background, which helps make the predominantly off-white colored pack of cigarettes the main focal point of the ad. Camel uses its signature Coffin Nails font when displaying the brands name in large text centered at the very top of the ad in capital letters. Right under the arc created by the brand's name is the statement, “MARK THE MOMENTS.” Half…
