The theme of this story is “working smarter than harder”. “Working smarter than harder” means to work efficiently, to strategized, and quicker than to work hard which makes things harder. “Working smarter than harder” shows a lot in the story. “All Stories are Anansi’s” is about a Anansi, a small spider, that wanted to be the owner of all stories known in the world. For example, I needed to sell 50 Girl Scout cookies. I kept asking people if they wanted some cookies but they always rely with, “No.” I notice that I won’t sell cookies by asking so I decide to do another strategy. I ask door-to-door and sold 15 boxes. Then I sold 25 boxes from selling in front of a store. Lastly, I sold the last 10 boxes to my relatives. At first, I was working hard and not thinking how to accurately sell cookies. I was working harder not smarter. I have finally figured to work smarter than harder. Each protagonist’s form of strategy shares likenesses as well as differences. In “How Stories Came to Earth” and “Coyote Steals Fire” the strategies used are beneficial to society. The stories that Anansi acquires from the gods are then, in turn, able to be spread throughout the world. This gives everyone a chance to hear and learn tales for generations to come. In order to do all of this, Anansi cheated each animal that the gods wanted into helping him. Anansi would trick the animals into trusting him and then, right when Anansi had them in his grasp, he would trap them and take them back to the gods. When Coyote steals the fire from Thunder he creates an opportunity for a new life for everyone on earth. Before fire, people were forced to eat raw meat and to freeze during the winter, but because Coyote stole the fire, people…

Introduction: In this lab i used glucose and starch to show if the cell membrane is permeable, impermeable, or selectively permeable to these substances. Dialysis tubing is a plastic like substance that has small pores in it. These pores allow certain chemicals to flow into and out of the cells. The size of the molecule determines what goes through the tubing. On of the materials that we will be using is glucose. glucose is a simple sugar that easily dissolves in water. To test for the presence of glucose we will use glucose test strips. The strip will change from an aqua blue color to a brown color if there is glucose in the solution. Starch is a complex molecule that forms from a suspension in the water. To test for the presence of starch I will use Lugol's iodin. When it comes in contact with the water and turns black or blue thats how you know that starch is present.…

This article also talks about the idea that people that have built grit will be successful in whatever they chose to do. Sometimes we like to do a lot of things at the same time thinking we are achieving what we want. The truth is that we won’t know if we could give more to what we are doing because we are not focusing on finishing one thing first. An example will be that sometimes we get a lot of classes to finish fast and we don’t pay the attention that is…

In The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, the idea that independence is something that many humans want to accomplish and maintain in their life is expressed. The reason for this is that achieving a life that is established purely on self-determination is a natural instinct for humans. Kate Chopin expresses this idea in The Story of an Hour through characterization, but more clearly through Louise Mallard. Mrs. Millard had just heard the news that a railroad accident has killed her husband by her sister Josephine and her husband’s friend Richards. She wept and stormed into her room after hearing the terrible news. There she sat in a chair and looked out the window. That was the moment were she had an epiphany that revealed that she had now gained independence.…

Cicero once stated that “… The greater the difficulty the grater the glory …” My interpretation of this would be in order to fulfill ones goals or desires you most struggle to get there, the more you struggle the more satisfaction you’ll feel in the end. I agree with this statement because in this world and generation we are living in things don’t come easy. One most work hard for what they want. In order to get from point A to point B you must move towards it or you’ll never reach where you’re trying to get threw out the many challenges. Two stories that emulate this quote would be Sweat by Zara Neale Hurston & The Scarlet Ibis by James Hurst. Both authors uses Characterization and Conflict.…

The Roman philosopher Cicero, stated in his thesis Ethical Writings of Cicero that “The greater the difficulty the greater the glory.” To further validate this statement, one must look at this issue from all parts of the spectrum. Is hard work always rewarded with glory? Is glory always achieved through hard work? Well in almost all walks of life, those who work hard are the ones who achieve in life. Life presents everybody with obstacles. It is when you truly struggle you reveal your traits of strength and determination. Those who use these traits to their advantage are the ones who achieve in life. The theme of the ability to withstand harsh difficulties and obstacles set by life in order to achieve the greater glory is clearly demonstrated in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter and in Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. In both of these notable works of literature, both authors use the literary elements of theme and characterization in order to convey Cicero’s claim to the fullest extent.…

Hard work and perseverance is something a number of people are taught at a young age. Suzanne Lucas, a woman who spent 10 years in corporate human resources, has this to say about working hard, “Some people pat themselves on the back when they do as little work as possible. While this provides temporary fun, it won’t help towards real success.” No matter what someone’s job is, if they put in their hardest work…

In almost every English class, the transition from midterm to final term is not quite easy. In this class final term, ENG 121, I have practiced my writing skills continuously with the process and writing from analysis of printed ad to the complicated argumentative essay. I have found that the final was more complicated even though the idea and the processes in the midterm had a great help in the processes and writing in the second term writings. For instance, the idea of finding or creating a topic sentence, developing details, and reasoning and concluding the essay were part of the things that had a great help for the final semester.…
