PR Internship Final Paper When I decided to participate in an internship I developed the goal of gaining real life experience in the multiple facets of public relations. In my internship I met my overall goal and my multiple objectives. This internship allowed me to do this because it had multiple clients that had a variety of needs. The different needs of the clients allowed my develop skill sets in the multiple facets. I developed my writing and design skills by developing a newsletter and holiday card with the help of the other intern. I learned how to utilize social media with a client that is difficult to develop social media for. I received a taste of event planning, but did not officially plan an event. I also learned many small things like how to get space in a newspaper, media relations, costs of advertising, use of many online tools, and technical terms that are used in the public relations field. Learning all of these things have made me more confident in entering the work force and helped me achieve my goals and objectives that I set out for myself in my internship. My internship showed me how to develop media relations. I have heard about the importance of media relations within classes, and this internship really helped me in seeing the importance of this in the real world. I also believe that crisis communication is an important concept in public relations and while I know you cannot plan for a crisis, I really would have benefited if we were to do something to practice for a crisis. The biggest thing I have taken from classes and applied to my internship are writing and publications. I applied the different types of writing like press releases and stories. I took the concept of C.R.A.P. from publications and applied it in my internship in our multiple publications assignments of a newsletter, a card, and a couple of constant contacts.
