Transient Tic Disorder
I must stop pushing on my stomach! I cannot help myself. I am going to hide underneath my desk so that no one can see me. Transient Tic Disorder (TTD) made me feel scared, stressed, isolated and frustrated. At an early age, I was diagnosed with this disorder , which is an involuntary brief, repeated movements or noises. The tics are obvious and new ones appear on any given day. I have grown up with tics, and hence, have had to cope with hiding my tics. In elementary school, for example, friends would ask, “Why are you making those throat noises?” which were very hard to hide. However, since entering high school, my tics have dissipated and I have myself to credit for this. As an adolescent, I understand my disorder much better and now can control the onset of the condition by redirecting my stress, which is the main cause of the symptoms. My stress has now been unleashed on my …show more content…
One of my goals was having the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Engineering Academy. Throughout the physical processes in working with machines, welding and soldering, I have thoroughly enjoyed the designing and creative development of each engineering project. Art has taken me to a world of exploration uncovering hidden talents that I did not know I had that I now want to express rather than hide, which I have been doing all of my life with each tic. Recently, I chose to take a Visual Effects summer course at a local community college. My friends thought I was CRAZY. They asked “Why would you want to spend 3 hours every day in a classroom instead of going to the beach?” My answer was simple, “because I want to learn something new that will amaze me!” Of course, I was mesmerized working with Maya software, creating the shortest videos that had the most everlasting impression on me; it reinforced my desire for a career in the digital arts

This is the main reason I would like to attend Cal Arts. I know that I need to be at a school that respects the artist as an individual, and makes sure they are well versed in the field. The fact that the first year at Cal Arts is based in fundamental and technical training is one of the main reasons I want to attend this school. So many film schools it seems spend very little time actually learning the craft and much of it simply looking at theory. I want to be at a school that sets me up to be a part of this industry for a long time, and one that will help me understand how to tell the stories I want to tell, and how to actually make my ideas turn into fully realized works of…

The person I have chosen to use for this research assignment is a gentleman I will refer to as Randall. He is a 31 year old man with what has been diagnosed as both a General Anxiety Disorder and agoraphobia. Randall’s condition is one that stems from a moment of extreme anxiety in his early twenties, and has worsened over the last decade into the agoraphobic behaviors of having a generalized discomfort or inability to leave the house. In short, Randall cannot be somewhere that does not come with direct access to a restroom facility. He must have a line of sight or awareness of where the closest bathroom is at all times outside his home. These incidents of fear began after a traumatic incident that Randall experienced as a musician nearly ten…

At a young age, I’ve always been an artsy and creative person. In art class, I’d always have something good to show. Throughout the course of my junior year, I have been challenged to be the best artist of my ability. As a graphic designer, I have learned to view things in a different light and learned to express my creativity. Although I am still learning new things everyday about how to become a better artist, I have improved tremendously in every way ranging from the thought process all the way to finalizing each project, and I think that as the days go by I will continue to do well in my high school graphic design career, but in continuing my education in this major and working in a field closely related to it. I have produced at least 5 projects that reflect my passion for graphic design including the New York World’s Fair, currency recreation, and the handmade film poster from the first semester of my junior year and from the second half up until my most recent project, a book jacket, and an organic drink package design.…

This year my favorite Elective has been The Undergrad Media. I did this elective in second trimester and teacher was Ms. Davis. She told us that her son had started a website for young artist or undergraduate people who don’t really have an audience. Throughout that whole trimester our goal was to find a artist who we thought was talented enough to be on the website and submit them on the website and make them a profile. Many people in this Elective found people who they wanted to submit and some were even fellow students. I found a person on Instagram who was a visual artist and I wanted to make her a profile because she was talented and she didn’t really have a fan base. Through talking to her I asked her the question of where she lived…

Taking higher level courses in math and science challenges my critical thinking to be able to apply concepts learned in the real world. My curiosity to learn more about physical sciences and math keeps me attentive to understand the complexity of how things work. Though I value academics, I hold another interest in the visual and culinary arts. Since art can take on many forms, I find pleasure in drawing as well as creating graphic and ceramic art. I also enjoy creating edible forms of art by cooking and baking.…

At the Fashion Institute of Technology, I plan to accomplish numerous things, such as learning how to create paintings with different materials and innumerable delightful techniques. I relish using acrylic paints and watercolors. Many different materials are used in the fine arts curriculum. I believe that FIT will teach me not to give up and not to quit during a difficult task. The Fashion Institute of Technology can also help me realize my goal, which is to become a great artist. The curriculum for the fine arts program teaches 2D, 3D, sculpting and more. This would help me advance my artwork to another level. In my studio art class last year, I was taught a different style of painting, which was difficult for me. I learned about aboriginal art.…

During my sophomore year in high school, I chose to enter the Principles of Art, Audio, and Video Technology elective class, which taught the basics of photography, cinematography, and other arts associated with the two. Most people looked at the class as an unchallenging way to get out of taking an art credit; however, I wanted to use this class to pursue my passion of photography. As the school year was coming to a close, my teacher offered applications into the Commercial Photography class to individuals, like myself, that exhibited a substantial interest in the subject. Although I knew I could take pictures worthy of appeal, the competition was tough, which meant that I had to step my game up in order for my teacher to accept me into the…

I always knew that I was gifted, but throughout my life, I took it for granted. Over a year ago I would have never considered the possibility of applying to an honorary university, not to of one. Three years ago, I just wanted to get a higher education. kept modified during my sophomore year of high school. I was delighted to have registered for Mrs. Shrull's visual art class. The first time I saw this inspiring and compassionate individual, as she walked into the classroom with a smile on her face and said: “Each and every one of you has a gift, you may not know it yet but, that should not stop you from reaching your full potential as an artist.” I knew from there on that I made the right decision.…

Maybe you don't know what you want from life, but we all know we want to be successful. As I oscillated between a few high schools I knew I wanted to leave a mark on the world, because being known is amazing. I know how to get it, I know what I have to do to get it, and I know where I needed to be to get it. I decided to attend BCTHS after my amble tour through the building. At that point I believed it would make me successful, and I knew I could endure this challenge on my own. I knew that there will be competition, but I also knew that I will still be successful. Success to me means going to a great college, and one day be well known for the creativity in my art and photography. I wanted to start ahead of the competition, and I knew I couldn't do this unless I attend BCTHS, especially when my two favorite career classes are dovetailed as one.…

I’ve realized through my experience at camp, I’m someone who strives to help others achieve their goals, whether that is cheering on my campers as they climb the daunting alpine tower to obtain their “gold rank,” or simply helping them find the right colors for their bead bracelet. My sophmore year at Seton Hall I assumed an art class, Art of the Western World. I took the class because like most classes at the University, I needed it fulfill my requirements. However, by the end of the semester I was amazed about art, more so then I ever was. In fact, I have never cared about art before in my life. But the class acquired my eyes to appreciate artistic objects around me. I began to realize that art is a long and difficult process. A skill that requires great determination and perfection. Early painters had to face the difficulties of paint drying too fast or the paper fading. Besides that, I witnessed how the great sculptures imagined the final work before it was even begun. Initially, they started from a block of stone or marble, having to carve out each and every layer. I was amazed, I could not imagine how long or difficult this could be. How long it must have took to create certain final works was incredible and for what, the mere satisfaction and thrill?…
