This case is much closer to home; in fact it is just round the corner from us and had always been considered one of the most expensive and smart care homes in Bournemouth. This case caused quite a lot of gossip around the local care community, but in its way is no different to Winterbourne, just because it was money and no violence was involved does not make the case any less more terrible, in fact in many ways it is worse. The manager took the residents money to help herself out of financial problems, I am not sure how it was discovered, but in one article it mentioned that the manager had or did or was receiving treatment at St Anne’s hospital for mental problems, well, first if this is an ingoing problem how did she get the job, if she’s receiving treatment now it’s obvious its only because she was find out, let’s be honest, if she had not been found out it would probably still be going on, the amount taken were constant but small, small enough to say that the resident had been mistaken or had spent it or lost it, something like that really makes fools of the residents and puts them in a horrible position where no one believes them, immediately people would stereo-type the residents. E.g. poor old Mrs… lost some money. Mrs… always thinks she has more money than she has, and so on, this is terrible, imagine how that resident feels, when no one believes them, it must also be difficult for the families, the home is so very smart and beautiful it would be hard for anyone to imagine that there family members money was being stolen. I am glad that the case went to court , the manager deserves to receive a sentence that reflect how serious it is to steal an elderly, poorly persons money, and also a resident who is on your care and one who depends on you to insure their life remains as comfortable and as safe as they only deserved. A case like this would be difficult for the staff to understand, they would probably find it difficult to blame
