BTEC National in Level 3 Health and Social Care
Unit 6: Personal and Professional in Health and Social Care
M2: Assess how the action plan has helped support own development over the duration of the programme
M3: Use an example to examine the link between theory and practice
Creating action plans and reflective practice has helped me develop both personally and professionally. Through the duration of my health and social care course, looking back at the goals I had set myself in the beginning some were more realistic than others. However, an action plan gave me a better way of how to progress with my goals and targets. Designing an action plan in order to fit my individual needs also developed my organisational – being organized and prepared for an assignment has allowed me to work on a timely manner. When creating my reflective practices I was able to think about how the units I studied linked to the practical side of the course (work experience). This helped my development as I was able to see how the work experience impacted on my learning and the different tasks within the units. I was able to identify my weaknesses and what I could improve on.
My work experiences
My work placements as a whole were somewhat diverse, in terms of age group, setting, profession and both group and individual requirements. My first work placement was at Kingswood Primary School - supporting and assisting Year 3 pupils (7-8 years old) with their learning, my second work placement I was able to also assist and give care to elderly individuals in The Dulwich Care Home. My finally work placement was in another school named Christ Church Primary School - mainly supporting and giving assistance to 'under achievers' and those who required special needs.
All of my work experiences were very enjoyable and provided me with fresh skills and the ability to communicate effectively with many different individuals. However, the placement I found most effective was the care
