Usain Bolt Research Paper
Participating in the previous three Olympic games, Usain Bolt from Jamaica holds the world record for the 100-meter dash. A normal human would struggle to complete his rigorous training, yet Bolt trains daily, spending “90 minutes in the gym every day” (Citation). He focuses on speed and agility, core strengthening, and weight training during those ninety minutes. Examples of his power-filled workout include reverse crunches, box hops, cable knee drives, medicine ball slams, barbell lunges, sled drag, and more. Bolt performs each action quickly and explosively. For speed training, he completes twenty block starts and steadily runs repeated 20, 30, and 100 meters for an hour, each sprint working on acceleration, deceleration, or top-end speed. (Citation). He will sprint wearing a weighted vest, and he varies his speed and length of rest to place him in the most developed athletic shape to win. …show more content…
Mo Farah, a British distance runner, won the gold medal for the ten thousand and five thousand meter races in the 2016 Olympic games. While the workout of Usain Bolt covers power training exercises, plentiful running fills Farah’s schedule. While he completes an hour of strength and conditioning training on Tuesday and Friday, the remainder of the week consists of a ten-mile, eleven-mile, and twenty-two-mile run, along with warm-ups and speed training. (Citation) The slowest pace ran by Farah is a six minute mile pace. Added together, Mo Farah runs between 126 and 135 miles per week (Citation).     For the first years of his running career, Oscar competed in the Paralympics. He was faster than all the competitors, so Oscar set his sights on the Olympics.
